Fuzzylogic 2nd Gear May 24, 2010 Share May 24, 2010 (edited) What make and model is your ride? If your ride supports ecu reprogramming via a reflash, you shouldn't face any issues so long as the ecu map is meant for your ride. Some tuners using commercial flashing software will lock your ecu with a password and if you need a retune, you will have to go back to the same tuner. Rickster86 Neutral Newbie May 24, 2010 Author Share May 24, 2010 Getz 1.4A. My unichip fused thus thinking if i should do reflash
Fuzzylogic 2nd Gear May 24, 2010 Share May 24, 2010 Depending on the software, it will usually be sufficient to tune up the car the way you want to without messy wiring of a piggyback. Also less susceptible to CEL if the tuner knows what he is doing.

Ikennyg Clutched May 25, 2010 Share May 25, 2010 There are few local workshop doing the ecu reflash. Easyly cost between 1-2k and depend on what type of car you driving. The reflash will come with dyna test as well. I think it not worth it to spend the money just to gain a few bhp.I will give it a miss. You can try buying the software and cable to diy which cost less than $200. There are a local company selling it. Refer to their website http://www.itgadgets.com.sg/index.php?productID=349 It is true for NA cars that the gains are usually not particularly impressive for the money spent. Driveability might improve though due to the flattening of the torque curve after a tune. For turbo charged engines, the gains are typically 20-30% from stock for hp and torque. Improvement is very noticeable. I would think DIY only if you know what you are doing. You would also need to understand what each parameter means when you do data logging during a tune.
