No, it isn't a joke. German motoring magazine AutoBild has awarded Hyundai Motor Company the honour of first-place in its annual AutoBild Quality Report for 2010.

Hyundai edged out local manufacturers BMW and Audi, and eclipsed its rival Toyota to take the prestigious award based on a comprehensive analysis of reliability, long-term quality and customer satisfaction.

Personally I think quality of Hyundai has improved tremendously since 2005 till now.

If you seriously test the quality, reliability, FC, safety, interior & exterior design......of recent Hyundai model, compared to Jap models of same class, you will find real value in korean made.

Even German said so, Merz, BM, VW.....comparable in term of build quality & reliability....

In Singapore, only Jap and conti made are quality... For the same type of dashboard in a Jap & Korean, one will be said classy and the other one is cheapo, tells alot about the mentality of people here when comes to really judging quality.. This is base on live experience..

Koreans have closed in.

So it's good news for consumers.

I used to be a Korean car hater but I have become a Korean car lover.

The Korean car haters haven't attacked cos they have no answer to this. Germany is the biggest and most demanding economy in Europe and if any product can succeed in Germany, it will succeed in all of Europe. The Germans are the benchmark consumer market.

I work in the Banking and Finance industry dealing with equity markets and we attend lots of presentations from the Chairman/CEOs of Singapore-listed companies and they always say the same thing about Europe - if you succed in Germany, you will eventually succeed in Europe.

I agreed with your statement. Look at all the big cars, merc, audi, vw and misc. Surprisingly, it was korean that outclass them.

Did anyone notice that Hyundai is going to come out with i40. A 4door coupe version of i45. Very curvy lines and great looking back, resembles a Maserati.

the worst thing tat can happen to a new car is that its design looks like other established models...

so i hope i40 dun look like a maserati or any honda/toyota...

best is it looks good in its own right.

I totally agree with you on this... I just wish the koreans put some ingenuity into their designs and come up with original looks... for the longest time i was pissed that the sonata copied the merc... the jag.. etc.

C'mon... if you already win the build quality and reliability.. why skimp on design?

Its taillights resembles a Maserati, but the front look whacked up though.

But i feel the i45 and the yet to be launched new Avante, looked great. Saw a few i45 on the road and its much nicer than a Camry or Accord i feel. Though i won't comment on performance since i'm no expert but it does seems MIK cars are priced very attractively.
