I think he is refering to Nexus One. not Ipone

to be more precise,

 

1) They are shelving Windows Mobile. All windows mobile apps will no longer be able to run on Windows Phone 7.

 

2) They shelving the idea of manufacturing windows phone by themselves. They will now let selected manufacturers make the windows phone, but they are going to be more anal on the specs than apple. All manufacturers must comply to the hardware requirement set by MS.

 

As for app store.... Apple is definitely in the lead. But looking at how aggressive or desperate MS is right now... I dunno... May not last for apple. Since MS is practically throwing $$$ at developers to switch to Winphone 7 SDK. Make an app, they pay u cash up front. Just like how playstation was a leader and then MS threw $1b into that market and made a name for xbox. I can't doubt what they are doing now will be a success.... best to sit back and enjoy the show.

 

And XBox Arcade will be on WinPhone 7.

 

at the moment, I still havent regret switching from wm6.5 to apple.

Little Johnny came into the kitchen where his mother was making dinner. His birthday was coming up and he thought this was a good time to tell his

mother what he wanted.

 

"Mom, I want a iphone for my birthday."

Little Johnny was a bit of a troublemaker. He had gotten into trouble at school and at home. Johnny's mother asked him if he thought he deserved to get a iphone for his birthday. Little Johnny, of course, thought he did.

 

Johnny's mother, being a Christian woman, wanted Johnny to reflect on his behavior over the last year. "Go to your room, Johnny, and think about how you have behaved this year. Then write a letter to God and tell him why you deserve a iphone for your birthday."

 

Little Johnny stomped up the steps to his room and sat down to write God a letter.

 

Letter 1

Dear God,

I have been a very good boy this year and I would like a iphone for my

birthday. I want a red one.

Your friend, Johnny

Johnny knew that wasn't true. He had not been a very good boy this year so he tore up the letter and started over.

 

Letter 2

Dear God, I have been an "OK" boy this year. I still would really like a iphone for my birthday.

Johnny knew he could not send this letter to God either. So he wrote a third letter.

 

Letter 3

God, I know I haven't been a good boy this year. I am very sorry. I will be a good boy if you send me a iphone for my birthday. Please!

Johnny knew, even if it was true, this letter was not going to get him a iphone. By now Johnny was very upset. He went downstairs and told his mom

that he wanted to go to church. Johnny's mother thought her plan had worked as Johnny looked very sad. "Just be home in time for dinner," Johnny's mother told him.

 

Johnny walked down the street to the church on the corner. Little Johnny went into the church and up to the altar. He looked around to see if anyone was there. Johnny bent down and picked up a statue of the Virgin Mary. He slipped it under his shirt and ran out of the church, down the street,into the house, and up to his room and sat down with a piece of paper and a pen. Johnny began to write his letter to God.

Was at MBS at midnight... not much queue.... about 250-300 people. When i left at almost 2am, the queue number was going to 300+ ....

 

If you are contemplating between 3GS and 4, go for the 4... purely for the retina display... once you lay your eyes on it, you cant go back to 3GS.... even iPad's IPS display pale in comparison. That's only the display.... the camera is awesome, the LED flash is really bright and useful. Facetime... well, havent tried as no one i know has an iphone4 yet. Wifi .... iphone4 adds 802.11n on top of b and g. 3GS only has b and g.

Somehow i feel that 4's accelerometer is more sensitive than 3GS' .... maybe because of the gyroscope (which 3GS dont have). Playing Labyrinth on the 4 feels more controllable than on the 3GS. I can imagine other games that uses the accelerometer if its more controllable.

 

Antenna issue, well, yes the death grip does cause signal to drop, but not loss totally. I have yet to experience a drop call. Free bumper will help for sure. But there are many nice case already in the market.... to me much nicer than 3GS cases.

 

Proximity sensor issue, while i have not experience this problem with my own iphone4, but i do experience this with the demo sets available at MBS .... but not frequent... Apple mentioned it is a software issue which can be solved, and from Gizmodo website, when they tested the iOS4.1 beta2 ... the proximity sensor issue seems to have been solved. So, since its not a hardware issue, there shouldnt be any problem.

 

Built quality of the iphone4 is really one of the best i have ever seen. Rock solid and feels like an expensive car's solid interior.

 

MicroSim from Singtel reportedly can boost speed up to 21Mbps compared to the usual 7.2Mbps on the others.... and microSIM is supposed to be energy efficient. So, it's a plus to have microSIM... probably will be adopted by the other phone makers in future as well.

 

On WP7 , ver 1 dont have cut and paste .... just like iOS1.0 ... so, to wait for WP7 to mature into iOS4, probably takes another 3 years or so. But i dont deny the fact that MS could possibly make its MarketPlace (ala Apple's AppStore) to be as well populated with good apps as Apple AppStore.
