yes only lately because of the hungry ghost month.

Before long it ll shoot up like crazy cos of the quota reduction.

And with population increase, demand for cars will rise accordingly.

Reduced supply and increase in demand= price up up and away.

after so many rounds of bids, it seems like the price is stabilizing around 30k liao.

do you guys think if it will ever drop again?

not in the next 3 years unless quota up.

someone already mention supply & demand in earlier posting, simple logic. morever average nation income is up , up and up

Price shld be abt the same at least until next jan, but when COE quota cut in feb, price will go up! But over $30K for COE, i still find way too high liao!

I think COE will drop gradually unless there are people who die die need to get Wish/Stream at > 100k but I guess many think VW is the new black. Have you guys seen how much the profit margin for each VW models are? Around 40% & above, which means when the car is older, the car value will drop like stone but anyway I dont think people think too far nowadays.

I dont see why people need to be happy when COE goes up even if they bought cars recently as COE is a tax imposed by Govt. Is there reason to celebrate if taxes goes up? Unless you sell your car & dont drive anymore, then you can keep you money. Otherwise when you plough into another car, you will end up losing $ at the end of the day. So no need to cheer when COE goes up cos at the end of the day you will need to pay the Piper.

I think it will continue to go up. There will always be higher demand and ppl who need a car, would still buy one. 30k to many ppl who can afford to buy a car is still affordable, it might affect their decision at the beginning as some of them think that this increase is just temporary, but when they realise that it won't drop in the near future, they will just commit to buying one. Its not that they can't afford, its the mentality that they will lose out when COE drop. But once they think otherwise (COE will remain), ppl would still buy. Its all about expectation of the COE price. Its true that there will be people who gave up buying a car completely due to COE increase but I doubt it will be more than the number of COE quota that got cut.

i agree with this too

the only way for COE to go down would be if something happens during the next elections

then COE will go down despite reduced quotas, HDB prices too will go down

so you guys know what to do :)

Will history repeat itself of ppl rushing to get their COE when they cut the COE supply next year?

I got a feeling HISTORY will repeat again, when those who bought cars with high COE this year will starts scraping their cars for high paper values in 3 years time.

somemore we are importing lesser FT, so next year GDP will be 3-5%? dependent of GE results.

it is all you S'porean fault for requesting reduction of FT.

I had made some calculation based on data available so far. The monthly COE Quota from Feb 2011 will be

Cat A 830 (decrease 30%)

Cat B 770 (decrease 20%)

Cat C 410 (increase 26%)

Cat D 660 (decrease 5%)

Cat E 620 (decrease 10%)
