Zaxx 2nd Gear August 13, 2010 Share August 13, 2010 (edited) yes only lately because of the hungry ghost month. Before long it ll shoot up like crazy cos of the quota reduction. And with population increase, demand for cars will rise accordingly. Reduced supply and increase in demand= price up up and away. Laworder17 1st Gear November 14, 2010 Share November 14, 2010 I think it's quite hard for coe to drop their current prices. People are used to see their car coe at the current level...
13177 Hypersonic November 15, 2010 Share November 15, 2010 Price shld be abt the same at least until next jan, but when COE quota cut in feb, price will go up! But over $30K for COE, i still find way too high liao! Anyway, volkswagen now got wht promo?
Zanter 3rd Gear November 15, 2010 Share November 15, 2010 I think COE will drop gradually unless there are people who die die need to get Wish/Stream at > 100k but I guess many think VW is the new black. Have you guys seen how much the profit margin for each VW models are? Around 40% & above, which means when the car is older, the car value will drop like stone but anyway I dont think people think too far nowadays. I dont see why people need to be happy when COE goes up even if they bought cars recently as COE is a tax imposed by Govt. Is there reason to celebrate if taxes goes up? Unless you sell your car & dont drive anymore, then you can keep you money. Otherwise when you plough into another car, you will end up losing $ at the end of the day. So no need to cheer when COE goes up cos at the end of the day you will need to pay the Piper.
Watwheels Supersonic November 15, 2010 Share November 15, 2010 Will history repeat itself of ppl rushing to get their COE when they cut the COE supply next year?
Tazzi80 3rd Gear November 15, 2010 Share November 15, 2010 (edited) I think it will continue to go up. There will always be higher demand and ppl who need a car, would still buy one. 30k to many ppl who can afford to buy a car is still affordable, it might affect their decision at the beginning as some of them think that this increase is just temporary, but when they realise that it won't drop in the near future, they will just commit to buying one. Its not that they can't afford, its the mentality that they will lose out when COE drop. But once they think otherwise (COE will remain), ppl would still buy. Its all about expectation of the COE price. Its true that there will be people who gave up buying a car completely due to COE increase but I doubt it will be more than the number of COE quota that got cut. Crazecow Neutral Newbie November 15, 2010 Share November 15, 2010 I always believe COE prices are controlled..... Its like a consortium. Collaboration betwen gahment and the dealers on the prices to set.
Summer69 Clutched November 15, 2010 Share November 15, 2010 Will history repeat itself of ppl rushing to get their COE when they cut the COE supply next year? I got a feeling HISTORY will repeat again, when those who bought cars with high COE this year will starts scraping their cars for high paper values in 3 years time. somemore we are importing lesser FT, so next year GDP will be 3-5%? dependent of GE results. it is all you S'porean fault for requesting reduction of FT.
