"Back in muh days, only 1 outta 3 of dem babies make it to aduhlt. Ya'll young un's should be feeling lucky! Take the bloody rational approach! Hyu hyuk hyuk!"

Jesus. The world has changed. Racism was acceptable. Sexism was acceptable. So we should just remain in the past? Bloody hell.

Why does the article enrage you? Can elaborate? me is just wondering.

Neutral Newbie

You dont even have to mention HK, even Taipei, I really feel that I can live with the public transport system over there. Even on supposedly off peak periods like sundays, the train frequency wasnt half as bad as here in SG.

In SG, I cannot live without a car, the public transport system drives me nuts. How can u see a bloody 6min interval for trains during the office rush?????? 1-2 mins max is the expected frequency with our population density and the centralisation of our business district (we only have 1).

I sometimes have to wait 20mins for a bus which takes 1 hour to reach my office when a drive takes just 10minutes.

Seems to me that our "public transport" are run for profits rather than public service. pui

Eh? All the reasons posted so far in this topic.

In short, the article reeks of complacency and hypocrisy.

That the standards we demand of our government and public sector should not be improved with the changing standard of time? That they don't need to remain 'competitive' as well?

That when the people are asked to pay through their noses for housing and transport and pushing back, possibly abolishing, the retirement for the country to remain competitive, similar sacrifices cannot be demanded of the government and civil service?

i believe our leaders are capable to do the things we want them to do....

just sadly enough,

we're not the ones on top....

and they're outright lazy and complacent with such high salaries in their pocket, even without doing anything....

then do things for what right???

maybe what we should do is to pool a group of bangla workers,

pay them $800/mth....

form an OP....

what say you guys huh???

Good idea hor ! At least bangla workers can work 16hrs or even 24 hrs a day !

If they talk rubbish sue them bankrupt also no use one !

Feel that it's better for them to acknowledge the situations and come up with some improvement potentials (may not necessary to be 100% effective, but at least alleviates the problem) than trying to use excuses and history to lecture the people.

Which one makes more sense?

let's face it....

public transport can never be faster than driving a car....

(excluding airplane)

but it can be real close to give personal transport and mobility a tough fight....

that's all i have to say....
