Read about this interesting though unconventional park bench designed by a German Fabian Brunsig.

 

It was designed to, and I quote, "protest against the commercialisation of modern life"

 

You put in 0.5 Euro, the spikes retract and you have yourself a nice spot to sit down, rest your legs but you have to get up after sometime when a siren announces the impending rise of the spikes.

 

It was reported that Yantai Park in Shangdong Province in Eastern China actually installed this type of benches.

very good idea leh for the MRT "special seats". Put money no spikes. Senior citizens just need to swipe their concession ez link cards to sit. Everyone else must pay to sit.
