Kangadrool Supersonic November 6, 2010 Share November 6, 2010 Buy classic car to drive. After driving for a few years, can still make $$$ selling away. ↡ Advertisement

Yeowww 2nd Gear November 14, 2010 Share November 14, 2010 which one would you prefer the elegance or the sports? the elegance is of course 9 k cheaper. go for the Sports version. my opinion is that Insignia is a better car, but jus that i feel that the price could be a bit high for what it is worth. mondeo is old la...maybe wait till the newer model next year, as some bro suggested for this range of car, i would rather choose a conti instead of a Jap. the Jap are behind in terms of engine n drive technology, they only good at cosmetic kinda features, which appeals to the eye, but not to 'the feel of driving'
Maxxtotal 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 In my 2 cents humble opinion my vote goes to Opel Insignia... We have had 3 generations of Vectra, just sold off our 2007 Vectra recently... We currently have 2007 Zafira and 2007 Astra H as our main cars... So we are Opel fans... (Of cos I am bias hahaha) But there must be a reason why we buy opel right? :) Personally I like Opel cos I like the road handling of the car and the way the seat is being design and the space, as well as the seats is comfortable for me for long distance drive to us, we are a family of tall and big size people, so the design of the seats on the Opel is more ideal for us at this present point of time in our life... With all fairness, I must add that we grew up with Honda Accord, our first Accord was bought in 1979, then 1984, 1990 and 1997 (in those days its like Japanese BMW hahaha in terms of pricing for mantainence)... We love Honda Accord too, but we move on to Opel in 2000 and stick on ever since..... Both cars are good cars... (there must be a reason why we buy so many accords in our life hahaa) With all fairness, go test drive both and see which one you have more feelings for.... side track, how's your Zafira, kena F mode yet? I like Zafira but the MTA maintenance is when due for change, cos twice as much as selespeed.
Alfie123 Neutral Newbie November 18, 2010 Share November 18, 2010 Better to have a budget $ on hand, so you can narrow the cars to test drives..i think there are more choices than opel and honda.. there are conti like alfa 159, citreon C5,...etc If you are driver in need of power as #1 criteria, then the turbo charged will definitely be the obvious choice compared to the one without. Yes, insurance could be higher for turbo but more cc, means higher road tax as well. And, also currency Yen are up and Euro is down. So prices are narrowing between the jap and the european cars. My personal choice would be Alfa Romeo 159. my two cents worth..
Initialp 1st Gear November 19, 2010 Share November 19, 2010 Isn't there a significant price difference between the Insignia and the Accord to make the comparison "unfair"? If we ignore the price, then Insignia win hands down for a better drive. Insginia low end torque is much better as the Honda only able to deliver torque at a much higher rev making it less ideal for stop start driving in the city. Look out for the new Mondeo coming in December. 2.0L turbo charged engine (200+ hp), good low end torque and best of all a 6 speed dual clutch gearbox (Ford Power Shift). Price around $128K. The Insignia uses an Asin 6 sp from Japan.
Mightymito 1st Gear November 19, 2010 Share November 19, 2010 There is no comparison....the opel is a 6 speed turbo. The accord is a 4 speed NA. Why would anyone want the accord?

Tbt001 1st Gear November 20, 2010 Share November 20, 2010 To make the comparison fairer: New Mondeo 2011 with 240 ps (237 bhp) Titanium X [available only in Europe so far] vs. Accord 2.4 E (from PI) vs. Insignia Sports All nearly the same price (give or take a few thousand bucks). Mondeo v Accord (JDM) v Insignia Power (bhp): 237 v 203 v 220 0 - 100 kph : 7.5 v abt 8 v 7.8 FC (km/l) : 13 v 11.8 v 10.4 Cabin space Front (L/W mm): 1126/1448 v 1077/1468 v 1057/1440 Rear : 950/1421 v 872/1425 v 921/1382 Reliability (expected, extracted from several review websites like JD Power): 4* v 5* v 3.5* I personally would like to go for the 2011 Mondeo..... if only it was available in Singapore. ↡ Advertisement
