Lancer or Mazda 3

i drive a MZ3 SP, Getting max 11km/l on 60% expressway.

I never regret getting the car.

Build quality, interior quality is definetely better than GLX.

The only bad thing is the FC....

The thing bout MZ3, the cornering is BRRRRRRR, shiok at speed that GLX driver will feel floaty :)

Take the bend from BKE to KJE at above 100 is not a prob for the MZ3 :)

 

GLX definetly have better FC n probably pickup.. but i still choose MZ3 anytime

i am thinking of selling my current ride to get the 08 Mazda 3 1.6 or the Jazz 1.5? which is a better drive/ quality not considering FC as we all know the mazda 3 FC's is terrible.

 

anyway, what is teh FC for the Mazda 3 for 50/50 street highway driving?

I am driving a '07 manual CS3. No trouble since day one. Only normal servicing.

 

Spacious and back seat can fold down to carry longer items.

 

FC is excelent. I can get up to 20km/l on malaysia's NS highway on shell 95, with luggage and air cond on.

 

My previous '06 Manual Sunny can only get up to 16km/l on NS highway.

 

For reliability, FC, spaciousness, and easy maintenance where most mechanics know how to service and repair the car.... go for CS3

Given the choice, would prefer GLX looks over M3. Value for $$ in view of space, FC and reliability. Also, cheap to maintain.

Your CS3 should have 1 distinct useful feature i.e. auto headlight off immediately after ignition is switched off; if you forget to switch off your headlight after going through a tunnel during the day. Some cars don't have this feature although they may cost more.

Not meant to travel at too high a speed as one may lose control of the car due its light weight especially on NSH.

Saw some badly smashed GLX and this is probably because those drivers drove their GLX as if it were an EVO.

I own a lancer cs3 manual for 4 years. A car to me is a mode of transport and I am on budget. First is the price diff of almost 20k compare to mazda 3. Of course there is diff on built quality. one cent money, one cent stock mah To date, no major part change at mileage of 60k beside regular servicing . I am not sure and not too bother about the FC cos I think is cheaper than my pervios few rides of Hondas, alfa and renault.

Some issues mentioned by bros and siss here like noise or floating at cornering, I agree. I manage to minimize the problems by self adhesive rubber seal on all door frame and lower air pressure on tires. These help a little but what can you ask for on the price you paid (at 42k for a brand new 1.6 jap)

Is really a value for $$ and reliable car. and parts are cheap and could service by any workshop.

Of course I love to own a better performance car if $$ is not an issue

You are lucky to own one at a steal, in view of today's COE, which by itself is more than the cost of your car. I think it would probably be above $90k if it is still on sale except that it is no longer available from AD.

In terms of noise, it depends on the individual because the current GLX can be as quiet as some cars of similar class. Even M3 and some other cars of similar class can eventually be noisy if continuously driven aggressively. It's just a question of noise level to the respective ear.

As far as handling is concern, it really depends on the driver's skill and often one may crash a vehicle regardless its brand if driven carelessly.

Drivers must always remember that even performance cars can be smashed by an unskilled driver if driven without due consideration for road condition etc..

yeah i drive lancer glx sports edition manual ...1st hand car since december 06. no regrets bout it..very reliable n no fault even major or minor xcept normal servicing. even add simple mods and increase power....Get the lancer n feel the mivec power when the valve opens...cheers
