SINGAPORE: The National Environment Agency (NEA) said its investigations into the foul smell detected on Monday have been inconclusive.

 

However, its findings show that the smell could be from the open burning of materials, or due to incomplete combustion from a "large fuel-burning plant".

 

NEA said it did not uncover any possible sources within Singapore.

 

On Monday, residents in the northeast of the island including Punggol, Sengkang and Ang Mo Kio had complained about a foul odour, similar to insecticide.

 

A thick smoke also hung over some estates.

 

NEA said no toxic chemicals were detected and the smoke and smell were not harmful to health.

 

It said it has written to its counterpart in Malaysia to ask if they had detected anything similar in Johor.

The report is already very "conclusive". Let's read again in point form.

 

1) it says not in Singapore, so where else?

 

2) a "large fuel-burning plant" in the north-east area can only be Pasir Gudang JB, across Punggol Jetty can see all the chimneys.

 

3) report is only indirectly saying "it's from Malaysia", but dun wanna hurt ties with neighbour so tone down the report, politely ask our close neighbour..... "eh bro, you yesterday got bung pui or not ah??"
