hahaha say this kinda thing before election... asking for trouble?

but lately i made a new discovery.... on top of new citizens who love our govt there might be many naive adults oblivious to what is happening in spore politics

this is how my conversation went with one of them:

fren: i hate all these china fts. they are all over spore. two ppl i know trusted them and got conned by them.

me: why blame them. blame the system. come lets eat our carrot cake before it gets cold.

fren: wow nowadays the govt very good. reduce ft, improve coe, improve hdb inflation....

me: election coming

fren: so is that why they are so good to us recently?

me: (face slap) i hope there are not too many ppl like you in spore. lets just eat our carrot cake.

i predict the coming election will see similar results as previous ones [shakehead]

I believe these locals are naive/retarded/childish-mindset when compared with foreigners, so have to use the term: foreign talents.

Good catch! Should use this and rebut.

Along that line, I guess 'Majulah Singapura' cannot be our national anthem either? Our IC and passport should be null and void too?

If we continue like pre-Kuwait war, can be no nation/imaginary nation soon. More and more outsourcing practices.

take heart ... there's no cure for stupidity

Last year a neighbour previously unemployed for about two years, told me not to start to discuss politics with him, now he is employed by the government. I puzzled if this is a nation to him (he gave me the impression that he is now employed by a political party through the government or the other way round)

When the old man said this, other than I have a similar thought as yours I have a few other questions:-

Why it's he but not other 'leaders' who made the statement? Is it because they dont agree with him and this is his own view? or they agree but decided he should be the one to tell us? Then why cant these leaders, instead of him, make the statement? Is it because they have no confidence (after being 'leasers' for more than a decade) to say such thing? No confidence to convince us? ...... what kind of leaders are they? must they need to hide behind the old man? ....

You got the point. You are right. So many voted for shadows before. Will it be traditional culture of ours? MM Lee started with a team pretty well balanced. Our current PM has got a team all professionals, not well balanced. Can we just blame our curret PM? I believe it takes two hand to clap. More among us should volunteer to be election candidates next GE, not just voters for others to mislead

Just look at the people in this forums and some questions that they post, you will know that in Singapore, although we keep saying we are all educated bla bla bla... There are lots of such silly people around, I too had a far share of such around me, sometimes I really feel like slapping them.

So sorry, I believe these are retarded by their being literated, not educated. If a stranger who identify himself as a non-professional present a view different from that by a another stranger who identify himelf as a professional. Most people simply accept the self-declared professional's presenttion and disregard the other alternative (usually the budget alternatives like Richard Branson's approach). We need to appreciate that time has changed and people become complacent, until it is too late like some other countries...

Sometimes I feel I am too obsessed with what MM says.

Seems like what he says is more important and weighty. But then he is just a mentor role. The main man should be the PM and his ministers.

From today onwards I will listen more to what PM has to say and offers, for he is the one that would make my million dollar HDB a reality!

Let's hope the silence PM is keeping to, is in preparation for a fantastic budget surprise speech that will make my dream come true!

Mothers, wives, sisters and daughters all go oversea and work as maids......while we go work as cleaners and construction workers.

Watch or read the Hard Truth of MM, this book is protraying the softer side of him and for him to show the circumstances that force him to make those strong policies. Also of his current views of Singapore.

I think he meant the making of a nation. The fabric of the nation. Of course we are a nation or country. But it's the fabric of the nation, the people that creates the identity, the societal norms and culture. He also said 40 odd years can't really create an identity of a society.

Furthermore, we are now a nation in remaking [laugh] we also need to adjust to the inflow of foreign cultures, to embrace them and tell them to also adjust and mould into our social norms and not stick out like a sore thumb to become a society of gracious people like we always pursue [laugh] .

Damm....seems like I wasted my 13 years of ICT and NS to fight for something that is not defined as yet.

What are we defending for if this is not a nation yet?????

Come on...then all the more New PR and citizens should participate in the formation of a Singapore nation. Like this more meaningfull mah!!

for you, NS was designed to shaft you. only you. lol....

I agree that we are in the remaking phase. So must involved everyone!

Which is why I think its very very meaningfull for the first generation PR and Citizens to serve the NS.

Its the new PR and new Citizens that will firstly & directly mould this nation...not wait till their kids generation!

How best to allow them to embrace and adjust......2 farking years of NS is the answer!

Furthermore, we are now a nation in remaking [laugh] we also need to adjust to the inflow of foreign cultures, to embrace them and tell them to also adjust and mould into our social norms and not stick out like a sore thumb to become a society of gracious people like we always pursue [laugh] .

Sure doesn't help when then continuely dilute any sense of national identity by mass importing 'FTs"...

And how are we to 'integrate' and 'embrace' the new imigrants when they see their group (be it as fellow countrymen or a collective group of foreigners) are significantly big to the point that they are nonchalant about integrating with the Singaporean culture but rather, expecting the Singaporean to adopt their international cultures?... wtf!
