I have test drove this 508...

What i like the car are;

It's powerful for a 1.6, probably due to the turbo, it feel like driving a 1.8 or 2L car.

The car pick-up from red light is fast, by feeling, it reached to 80km/h in approx between 6 to 7 sec. The gear changing is quite smooth. When the speed hit 100km/h, the rev is about close to 2000rpm, and i think still got 1 gear to go.

It is quite well sound insulated, feel quite quiet, even cruising at 90 to 100km/h

The spec for Allure Plus is very good, come with everything that high-end car have.

Leg room is enough for me at rear and front(1.75m). The FC quite good.

The boot is very spacious. It came with the directional bi-xenon headlight.

The control for the driver.

What i personal don like are;

The lever for opening the front bonnet, it located the the other side instead of driver side.

The engine compartment is not impressive

The suspension seem too soft. Feel the jerk when heavily accelerate from 0 to 80. (maybe this car not meant for that)

The finishing of the door seem not very well done, having a sharp edge feeling.

What i afraid:

The after sale service.

parts availability.

I am not sure of Peugeot reliability, especially electronic

It is now in my list for my wife next car change.

one of my relatives is driving a 308

2L car vs 1.6L make the small cc car inferior. What if the Mondeo is 1.6L instead? Will it be still better than comparing the above choices? 1 thing for sure is that the lower price (lower COE + lower OMV) tag will sure win. Only concerns is at the expenses of performance.

actually its not all about horsepower....

depends on the vehicle and how well the vehicle uses the horsepower

and then again there is turbo lag

a 125hp car can out accelerate a car with 200hp

like a lotus elise

ive driven a 3.0 liter top end V6 car before and that is the jaguar xf and the acceleration is amazing and that is NA....i am not sure how a mid range car with a turbo will perform

Very nice looking car, the centre console looks like Audi. Very attractive price too. With K5, C5 and this 508 all selling at sub 130k, wonder how the Jap counterpart like Camry, Accord, Teana, Mazda 6 going to sell. This year going to be a big hit to Jap brand.

Don't worry, there are die hard fans of Honda & Toyota.

i'm just wondering if anybody knew how many 508 were sold so far as i havent seen any on the road yet.

With COE rising, anybody here know how much does the 508 cost now?

Another point to note, the NAV (GPS) is not working yet, they have not resolved the map issue yet. The Allure plus currently does not have SG map. The SE told to take it that it is not included.

Siao-liao-lor, how to buy a car knowing that there is a part NOT working? If bought the car then everyday step into the car, stare at NAV button and sigh!

Neutral Newbie

I am currently driving a 308T. Test drove the 508 during the 20k servicing for my car. Since both cars share the same engine, 308 feels more responsive than 508, while the later is definitely more comfy. One point to note is 508 doesn't really have a "rear bumper". The boot cover lid is almost flushed with the bumper, so if the car is kissed from behind, likely damage to trunk lid as well.

One hit at back will likely to kill off the boot. Look at the boot openner "5-O-8". Good thing is the one who kissed the back will have to pay a lot more. Bumper - Reverse Sensors - Boot Lid - Boot swtich all need to be replaced.

you forgotten to add on if the driver of 508 accidently reverse his own car into a pole [:p]

Peugot 508 has 4 reverse sensors. From the picture, the sensors are well positioned to avoid any blind spot that caused it to miss a pole. Therefore unless the driver is not paying attention, it should never accidental reverse into a pole.

Sibei sianz, went to the Peugeot showroom just now, they still have no answer to question on 508 Allure's SAT NAV . Currently there is no Singapore map in the SAT NAV. No date and no solution yet.

Anybody has any insight on this issue?
