Le_Stig Neutral Newbie April 5, 2011 Author Share April 5, 2011 are you pretending you dont get it?? everyone's car on track during cooling-down laps is exposed to the risk of being hit by idiots even he takes full precaution.... and there's nothing anyone, including the organiser, can do to help settle the repair bills (hopefully injuries will not involved)............... this gotta be made know to all participants who pay for the track day i am neutral but participants should be aware of the risk involved in trackdays previous committe / president should remembersome incident My point being, iridium just asking about "am I going?", how did this lead to incident, injuries, risk, committee, president and etc? I don't see anyone initiating similar subject or topic of any sort. By quoting him, your reply is not relevant... You seem to make this a personal agenda to make your point without offering some overview or rather, jumping into the context where we don't really apprehend where or what your point or objective being hence it brings me back to my question, your point being? Also, the Alfa community are aware of these risk, even so, there are safety briefings and Pre-Checks prior to the track day, terms and conditions, rules and regulations and other safety notes are stated in the respective organiser's website. Objectively, appreciate we keep to the main topic and/or topic. If you have any advise, as mentioned, perhaps you can give us more overview and insights than to have an close ended post. Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
KARTer 2nd Gear April 5, 2011 Share April 5, 2011 i wonder who's talking big here... if you feel i am talking big, please explain what makes you think so? i am trying to make participants aware of the risk involved, do you think this is talking big?? hope to hear from you
KARTer 2nd Gear April 5, 2011 Share April 5, 2011 (edited) My point being, iridium just asking about "am I going?", how did this lead to incident, injuries, risk, committee, president and etc? I don't see anyone initiating similar subject or topic of any sort. Fair enough, i should have hit the 'reply' button instead of 'quote' button as i am posting on information on safety and not replying directly to him, my apologies for the oversight, hope this clear the air By quoting him, your reply is not relevant... with my explanation above, i need not elaborate furtherYou seem to make this a personal agenda my agenda is to highlight the risk involved, call it 'personal' if you like, doesnt really bother meto make your point without offering some overview or rather, jumping into the context where we don't really apprehend where or what your point or objective being hence it brings me back to my question, your point being?by now, do you still have the question? Also, the Alfa community are aware of these risk, even so, there are safety briefings and Pre-Checks prior to the track day, terms and conditions, rules and regulations and other safety notes are stated in the respective organiser's website.this we all know, does the briefing highlight if a cooling-off car (ie slow-moving and taking safe precaution eg staying out of racing line etc) is hit by a reckless driver, the latter can walk off without taking any responsibility?? It will be good everyone is fully aware of this, not everyone has bottomless wallet to pay for damages caused by others, i have seen with my own eyes this actually took place Objectively, appreciate we keep to the main topic and/or topic. If you have any advise, as mentioned, perhaps you can give us more overview and insights than to have an close ended post. Thanks. Incidentally i am an afla fan although havent got the chance to own one yet, just wont like nice cars hit by reckless trackies and the innocent owner has to foot the repair bills besides being inconvenienced If you are interested: Car A was doing a slow cooling down lap staying far away from the racing line (in full accordance with track rules).... around turns #12 / #13 (before the turn entering the back straight) while going at about 30-40kmh, Car B (not doing cooling-down lap, but in full race speed chasing other cars in front) came from the back, presumably lost control, and hit Car A............ Both drivers stopped and check damages.... Car B driver admitted mistake (how could he not, it's obvious he's in the wrong as per track rules) and agreed to pay for the damages Car A suffered. Unfortunately, 2 days later back in Singapore, Car B driver went back on his words and till today, no payment whatsoever and ignore phone calls etc TTC committee's response upon Car A's driver's accident report : Nope, we cant even be middle man to help settle the case.... ie "YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN" Edited April 5, 2011 by KARTer
Le_Stig Neutral Newbie April 5, 2011 Author Share April 5, 2011 Hi KARTer, Thanks for the clarification and insight. It is good to share such experience and definitely beneficial to not just Alfa Community, but those that track hence thanks for the advise. On the hindsight, I would also advise in future that your contribution may add more clarity hence avoiding any misconception or misunderstanding. As we all know views in the cyber world maybe perceived differently thus giving you my honest opinion. Nevertheless, thanks again on this advise. Hi Le Stig (like your nick!), Your advice is most welcome ........ I am glad you accepted my explanation and apologies for 'messing' up the thread. Drinks on me if we have a chance to meet. Hope you guys have a blast on track! Still miss the smell of exhaust and the roar of cars thundering down the straight, but with my concern over what I have shared, basically being sitting duck of sort, i am not sure i will ever track again. Well 4-5 good years of burning rubber at Sepang has unfortunately came to a half after witnessing the accident with my own eyes. But must say the experience of learning about our car and our own skill is well worth the money spent. Enjoy and take care! (the track should be covered by F1 rubber by 22 Apr, hahahaaa) ps: Not sure if Alfa need cooling down laps..... please keep an eye on your rear view mirror just in case the car behind loses its control.....
