I was told just a bit ago about an event this Saturday 0930 ~ 1100 at the Kallang Leisure Park. Car meet, supposed to be charity oriented, giving underprivileged an opportunity an unforgettable ride. Organized by a group called HopeDriveSG - students from ITE West with Singapore Exotic Cars (SECS). Thought I'd share.

I am having a gathering with some friends at my house About 8 to 10 of us. What kind of food do you usually get? The last few times i hosted dinner, it was always pizza, steamboat, finger food, KFC etc... No point catering also coz its less than 10 people.

Straight after the M-showroom meetup on sunday, and after dropping off my gf at suntec, i headed off to Kallang Macs for a mini meetup of classic/modern-classic car enthusiasts. Here are some of the cars which showed up the Golf Mk 1 Cabrio E34 with shiny engine 993 RS / Audi Quattro / E36 M3 Triumph GT6 Plymouth Valiant Barracuda Buick Series 90 Limited '1938 In addition there were a couple of Sunbeams and an MG, a Saab 900 Turbo Cabriolet, an E46 Cabriolet, Porsche 964, a Euro-R, BMW bike and Koup also joined in. Recently, I returned to Kallang carpark for a VAGSG gathering event. This time, members were encouraged to bring along items to sell, making the event look a mini carnival. It was a hot Sunday afternoon and I was at Kallang carpark F to attend a Volkswagen Audi Group Singapore (VAGSG) gathering. It has been quite some time since I go to that particular part of Singapore. I thought that only the Volkswagen Group car owners will be at the carpark but I was proven wrong. The BMW family was having a mega meet up event at the Kallang carpark as well. They seemed like having a group photo shoot. Among the BMWs was a black Lamborghini Gallardo which made its presence felt by making a few thunderous rounds around the carpark. The Mercedes Benz fans were not outdone as well. They were having a gathering on that day at the same location too. When I walked over to their territory, some Mercedes owners were trying out a car grooming product, but I could not figure out what it was. The Korean automaker, Kia, was represented on that day as well by the 2-door and 4-door versions of the Cerato. And at a corner alone by itself was a yellow Ferrari 458 Italia. Being the only Ferrari around, the prancing horse gathered a lot of attention with passer-bys posing for a photograph with the prancing horse. A police car was seen rooming around the carpark occasionally. It was probably there to ensure no illegal racing activities were going on. After ordering a VAGSG Polo T-shirt, I made my way home satisfied with a feast for the eyes. I guess I will visit Kallang carpark more often on Sundays in the future. Jap, Conti, Italian etc. - A huge gathering at a certain location where everyone can show off their rides? And perhaps workshops can show off their latest projects? - A legalized drag race contest to check out those 1000HP evos, STIs, and other makes putting all their power to the ground? - Prototypes from different car companies can present their latest work here - Really exotic cars (e.g. Ferrari Enzo, Bugatti Veyron) can show their faces in one go I know this might all sound "illegal", nonsensical and far-fetched. But let's just list out the stuff you would like to see in such an epic car get together, just for fun

Since I'm gathering the feedback on whether are you guys/gals keen in the MCF dinner. It will be good if u can help to vote for the idea amount to pay. Please take note that the above price is for adults, yet to work out for children.. And note that the amount you vote will be the deciding factor for the venue, quality of food (we are looking at dinner style not buffet) and as well as the door gift. And of course, we'll get more sponsorship for the lucky draw. Please vote if only u are confirm coming. Thanks. Aside, u may also suggest the type of door gift we can have. A rough guide. As per coffee on 05/01/08, i went sourcing around today and got a quote: I need 15 confirmed to get the item produced, and hence there's OEM and GT bonnets that most of us have, they can only make 1 type from 15 orders(means 15 orders to get a EP82 GT bonnet made, another 15 to get an EP80 OEM bonnet made). Price range: About $700 SGD (inclusive of installation) Lead time: 2-3 Weeks. So i need to make a count now to see who's really interested and what bonnet do u have, once we hit 15 I'll get u guys out again to confirm everything. Hairy lift happenings in Shenton Way building I WORKED in the Central Business District in a building with no name (formerly known as Temasek Tower) and now known as 8 Shenton Way. Externally, the building looks all right but what a nightmare most tenants endure when using their supposedly upgraded lift system. The lift system and the lobby were upgraded last year. My office is situated on the 45th floor and there are four lifts serving 40th to the 50th floors. However, despite the upgrading which is supposedly to improve the lift system, breakdown is a daily feature. Sometimes, the situation was so bad that there is only one lift left serving the 10 floors. Besides our company, many other tenants have also written to the landlord, to no avail. I had a hairy experience on Monday evening. My colleague and I took the lift on the 45th floor. It stopped on the 43rd floor and picked up another person. The lift, carrying the three of us, was supposed to bring us down to ground level. But it did not. On the 22nd floor, it stopped after which it began to shake. Suddenly, the lift shot up to the 31st floor and then down again to the 27th floor. On the 27th floor, it froze and shook again and then shot up to the 31st floor. By then, we were so frightened of being stuck in the lift that we stepped out immediately to take another lift. Later, I was told that these things happened often. On Tuesday morning, I experienced another annoying incident. At Basement 1, I pressed the lift for the 45th floor. The lift door closed on me but did not move for five minutes, after which it opened again to announce that it was Basement 1. I switched lift and one of the tenants remarked that it is a common daily happening despite many letters of complaints. I hope that the relevant authorities will step in to 'save' us from the daily hairy and annoying experiences we have to endure at 8 Shenton Way.
