    Kia Stonic

Following sister car Hyundai Kona's launch, Kia pulled the wraps off the Stonic, their version of the compact crossover. Personally, I prefer the look of this over the Kona although it's clear that the Stonic looks just like a raised up Rio hatchback with an identical interior as the Rio too.

    2017 Hyundai i30

Another new Paris Motor Show launch from Hyundai-Kia, this time the 3rd-generation Hyundai i30. Like the Kia Rio, the 2nd-generation i30 was only sold locally for a few months before Komoco pulled the plug and brought in the Accent instead, which I think is a pity. The interior looks particularly pleasing, taking cues from their Ioniq hybrid. Hope this gets brought in to compete with VW Golf and Opel's latest Astra. Source: https://www.netcarshow.com/hyundai/2017-i30/ Launched in Korea as well, engine choices includes 140PS 1.4-litre GDI Turbo, 204PS 1.6-litre GDI Turbo and 136PS 1.6-litre diesel. http://www.hyundai.com/kr/showroom.do?carCd1=RD008

    2016 / 2017 Subaru Impreza

The all-new 2017 Impreza debuts the Subaru Global Platform architecture that's designed to deliver significantly higher levels of driving pleasure, agility, crash protection and ride comfort and will underpin a variety of upcoming Subaru vehicles, including hybrids. As before, every Impreza is equipped as standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a boon to driving agility and traction and a key advantage over front-wheel drive competitors. The roomier 2017 Impreza models also debut the brand's new design language and new driver-assist technology. Also new, multimedia features including standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ and standard Near Field Communication connectivity debut on Impreza. The new Impreza will be available in base, Premium, Sport and Limited trim lines when it arrives in Subaru dealerships in late 2016. Subaru's new design language puts the brand's signature hexagonal grille and hawk-eye headlights onto a more sculptural body, its athletic stance accentuated by prominent wheel arches and flowing lines. The dramatic new look carries into the cabin, with an outward-flow design that follows the front of the car. The 2017 Impreza rides on a 105.1-in. wheelbase, up 1.0-in. over the last generation Impreza. Both the Sedan and 5-Door are 1.6-in. longer than the outgoing models, and both are 1.5 in. wider. The larger dimensions create a roomier cabin, while a 0.4-in. lower height helps improve aerodynamics with a lower coefficient of drag. Although sleeker in appearance than the previous models, the 2017 Impreza Sedan and 5-Door preserve excellent all-around visibility. The new Subaru Global Platform, together with the Boxer engine, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and EyeSight® that represent Subaru's core technologies, constitutes the basic foundation of the next generation of Subaru vehicles. Impreza's new platform incorporates new frameworks with optimized cross sections and highly stiffened joints between structures to significantly enhance straight-line stability, agility and ride comfort while suppressing noise, vibration and harshness to a degree not seen in the compact class. Specifically, the new platform increases rigidity of the unitized body structure by over 70 percent. A lower center of gravity and revised suspension systems contribute to the biggest-ever leap in Subaru's performance evolution. The double-wishbone independent rear suspension mounts its rear stabilizer bar directly to the body, which helps reduce body roll by 50 percent compared to the outgoing model. Greater hazard-avoidance capability is another benefit of the Subaru Global Platform's inherent handling agility. In addition, the resolute straight-line stability that makes the 2017 Impreza more relaxing to drive is also an important constituent of the autonomous driving capability this platform can support in future Subaru vehicles. Taking full advantage of the new stiffer platform and more powerful engine, the Impreza 2.0i Sport, now available in the Sedan as well as 5-Door, delivers a more fun-to-drive performance feel thanks to exclusive suspension tuning, 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels and Active Torque Vectoring. Subaru aimed for a new ride/handling balance benchmark in the compact segment. The Sport also includes a new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System, which is available on other models. Exclusive exterior styling and features setting the Impreza Sport apart include standard LED daytime running lights (DRL), black-finish front grille, body-color rocker panels and turn signal side mirrors. The Impreza Sport 5-Door features gloss black rear gate trim, while the Sport Sedan has a rear trunk spoiler. Inside the Sport, unique black cloth upholstery is trimmed with red stitching, a motif that repeats for the steering wheel, gear shift, instrument panel and door trim. The instrument panel incorporates exclusive Sport gauges and a Multi-Function Display. The Sport comes well equipped, with upgrades over the Impreza Premium that include the Subaru STARLINK™ 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and a new harman/kardon® premium audio system is available. Keyless Access & Push-Button Start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle and a CVT shift boot round out the Sport's enhanced standard equipment. A revised version of the FB 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine gains direct fuel injection and other enhancements to boost both performance (now 152 horsepower vs. 148 before) and drivability. In highline trims, the Lineartronic® CVT (continuously variable transmission) features a 7-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters that allow the driver to control the transmission via seven pre-set ratios. Subaru designed the 2017 Impreza to provide even higher levels of safety than the outgoing model, which was named an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ when equipped with available EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. The new platform underpinning the 2017 Impreza improves crash energy absorption by 40 percent over present models. The EyeSight® system includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure and Sway Warning, plus a Lane Keep Assist function. Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also available. Also new are available Steering Responsive Headlights, which can illuminate curves as the vehicle steers into them, and High Beam Assist, which automatically activates and deactivates the high beam headlamps based on driving conditions. All 2017 Impreza models include as standard equipment front seat side impact airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver's knee airbag. The 2017 Impreza adds new driver-assist technologies, including Reverse Automatic Braking and the display of steering lines for the standard rear vision camera. Reverse Automatic Braking can apply the vehicle's brakes if an obstacle is detected while reversing. A new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System can detect pressure drops at individual wheels. Subaru STARLINK™ Multimedia systems offer the latest in digital music playing, Bluetooth® wireless capability, iPod® control, smartphone integration and more. The display screen also provides the display for the standard rear vision camera, and the top-level system includes navigation. The available Subaru STARLINK™ Safety and Security Connected Services give the 2017 Impreza one of the industry's most affordable telematics options. Depending on the package selected, features can include SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts, Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.

    Harrier 2017

i went to test drive on sat, sharing my views below Likes - exterior design - size of car, notable presence on the road - sound proofing - boot size is huge - space for rear seat passengers is huge - front sequential turn signals looks cool; would really loveit if they used sequential for back and side signals as well - sunroof Dislikes - touchscreen on dashboard is pathetically small. those in japan seem much bigger ( )- from the boot, there is no lever/button for making the rear seats lie flat - no safety options: blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic monitoring, tyre deflation monitoring - they removed the panoramic view monitor, which i think is available in the japanese brochures - lag before turbo engine kicks in Some excellent reviews here from Richard too: http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2705478-harrier-2017/page-7?do=findComment&comment=6159941

    Opel Insignia 2017

New model, new fortunes? http://www.------.com/news/10767/all-new-opel-insignia-grand-sport-coming-in-q3-2017 https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2017-vauxhall-insignia-grand-sport-officially-revealed Spoke to the local dealer recently. They will have it in SG and on the road by year end... doing the tests now.. The local version will come with the 1.5 turbo petrol.. Having sat in the Vectra back in the old army days and after, I am looking forward to seeing a mid sized Opel. If they can sort out the QC and service, this will be an interesting car.. Although the dealer could not firm up a price, they did say it will be priced at the Camry range. I am guessing that means it will be in the 13x k range.. Look out CLA, 3 series and also Accord and Camry! Like the Astra, it's a lower cost alternative for those willing to try out a different car, with a conti feel and lots of features, but at a lower price range than the traditional big three German brands. And this car will be made in Germany too.. PS: not a dealer
  9. Since this is a new model, I think it warranty a new thread to set it apart from the old Swifts The official announcement with happen at Frankfurt Motorshow next week. Anyone as hyped up as me? The info we know so far: Car is slightly larger than previous Swifts, but you cannot tell unless you compare side by side. 1.4 Direct Injected intercooled (front mounted) Turbo, Euro 6 compliant 140ps @ 5500rpm 230nm @ 2500-3500rpm (That's higher than normal turbo range, optimized more for performance) 970kg for MT, 990kg for AT 6MT or tipronic 6AT(They ditched the CVT) 17" rims cruise control and Bluetooth with LED display fabric and leather hybrid sport seats Collision mitigation for higher JDM spec, not sure if it will come locally. JDM release date this Month 2017 so PI can start bringing them soon. 0-100 not recorded but based on specs and weight should be in the sub-7 secs The cheapest trim is selling at 1.7 milllion yen, after conversion is around $21kSGD for the OMV.Based calculations of PARF and current cat B COE, the car should be around 120k bracket plus minus. 2017 Opel Crossland X

Opel Singapore has just launched the new Crossland X. Launch Price at SGD102,888. Probably replacing the Mokka X. http://www.opel.com.sg/vehicles/opel-range/cars/crossland-x/index.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw6ZLOBRALEiwAxzyCW1ILCXQTrvI_kHyJxhRfIt6y_wjbCpR6qwbymj0Xb-sgO2ZzG9zHMBoC438QAvD_BwE https://www.carzone.ie/reviews/new-car-reviews/Opel/Crossland-X/2017/548/ Farewell to Opel ’s family favourite, the Meriva, and hello to the car that replaces it for 2017, the Crossland X . The new Crossland X takes aim at popular cars like the Nissan Juke and Renault's Captur, and it blends downscaled SUV looks with impressive levels of interior space. It’s also the first Opel to be built under the German manufacturer’s merge with Peugeot PSA, so it is based on the same platform as the latest Peugeot 2008. We recently took the Crossland X for a week-long test drive on Irish roads to see if has the recipe for success in an increasingly competitive corner of the market. The Crossland X shares many styling similarities the popular Opel Mokka X SUV, although it isn’t as rugged from the outside. Features like the front grille and rear lights are recognisable from other cars in Opel ’s range, while its raised ride height and tall bumpers lend it an SUV stance. Choice of specification in Ireland consists of two models, SC and SE, while the base specification SC gets 16-inch alloy wheels and distinctive LED daytime running lights as standard. Our test car is a higher specification SE model, so it gains larger 17-inch alloy wheels and dark tinted windows. The Crossland X is more spacious inside than you would expect, with excellent head and leg room for front and rear seat passengers. Space in the rear is particularly impressive due to the flat floor, and boot space is respectable at 410 litres, trump rivals like the Nissan Juke. There is also an optional versatility pack which allows the rear seat bench to slide forwards and backwards and further increases boot space. The driving position is high which means it offers a commanding view of the road, and there’s enough support from the seats for comfort during longer drives. The quality of the plastics throughout the cabin is mostly good, but they are scratchy in certain areas such as beneath the steering wheel and lower doors. It’s nice to note that all Crossland X models have a user-friendly 7-inch colour touchscreen system in the centre of the dashboard as standard, incorporating Opel ’s Intellilink system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also included is Opel ’s OnStar with a Wi-Fi hotspot, roadside assistance call out and lots of other features too, so it's fair to say that the Crossland X is more connected and smartphone-friendly than many of its rivals. The Crossland X is available with either a 1.2-litre petrol engine available in two different states of tune (81hp or 110hp), or a larger 1.6-litre CDTi diesel engine in 99hp or 120hp variants. We drove the 120hp 1.6 CDTi diesel with a six-speed-manual gearbox and it offers an ideal mix of performance and economy. 0-100km/h is possible in under ten seconds and it cruises confidently at motorway speeds, while we covered over 600 kilometres of driving in the midlands and managed 5-litres per 100 kilometres of driving in fuel economy (56MPG). The Crossland X has an accommodating suspension setup which means it is comfortable out on the road, but it isn’t very agile through corners. Light steering helps during parking, but again, there is little feedback from the steering when cornering. This is unlikely to affect family buyers who will value comfort over driving dynamics. Despite its SUV looks, the Crossland X isn’t available with four-wheel-drive, but the front-wheel-drive setup offers sufficial amounts of grip. Family buyers will appreciate standard safety features such as lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, rear parking sensors and hill start assist. Our test car has desirable optional extras such as a panoramic sunroof, front parking sensors and Opel ’s lighting pack, but the asking price is bumped up accordingly and it can get expensive quickly. The Crossland X is a worthy successor to the Opel Meriva MPV, bringing more style and desirability than its predecessor. Family buyers will appreciate the Crossland’s generous interior space, along with the strong serving of standard equipment. That said, it feels and looks very similar to the latest Opel Mokka X, so differentiating between the two models can be confusing, and it also isn’t as fun to drive as some of its more-established rivals, such as the Peugeot 2008. Taking all things into account, the Crossland X makes for a well-priced alternative to cars like the Nissan Juke with best-in-class space and practicality.

  21. All-new mid-sized Peugeot 3008 SUV gets more space and brand-new interior tech The new Peugeot 3008 SUV was revealed at the Paris Motor Show in September 2016. Set to go on sale in the UK in early 2017, Peugeot says the car will be the most advanced Peugeot ever sold, with plenty of in-car tech and a lower overall weight compared to its predecessor to improve the car’s economy and handling. The completely new Peugeot 3008 will be the first production car to use the firm’s new version of its i-cockpit digital instrument display and infotainment system. We expect it to become one of the best in class when the car is launched. Owing to the drop in the car’s weight, Peugeot is confident the car is better to drive and more efficient. Interior space is also up compared to the previous 3008. The new 3008 will be available with two petrol and four diesel engines, and trim levels will include GT and GT Line. The original 3008 was a mix of MPV and SUV, but the one on display in Paris is much more an SUV, allowing it to compete directly with rivals such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai, Ford Kuga and Renault Kadjar. The new 3008 has already been crash tested by Euro NCAP and achieved the full five-star safety rating, thanks in part to safety technology like lane-departure warning and speed-limit assistance systems. The car will be available to order in November and exact specifications and prices will be released near the time. Peugeot 3008 designThe new Peugeot 3008 is instantly recognisable as an SUV, with a raised ride height and a bold front end. There’s plenty of chrome too, with the shiny metal surrounding the grille and foglights, while there’s also an eye-catching front protective skid plate. The sharp headlights are cleaved in two by a piece of the front bumper, while creases abound on the bonnet and down the side of the car. Black plastic cladding around the wheelarches and at the bottom of the doors lends a rugged appearance. The roof and roof supports are available in contrasting colours, giving the appearance that the roof it floating. Chrome trim runs from the front windscreen support over the roof to the rear spoiler. The rear light clusters are divided in three, and the upper part of the tailgate is finished in black and the bottom half in body colour. The rear bumper is a combination of black plastic and chrome. InteriorThere’s more space inside the 3008 than before despite the car’s external dimensions being reduced. That’s largely due to it having a longer wheelbase, meaning there’s a longer gap between the front and rear wheels. There’s plenty of space in the rear seats, and the boot measures an impressive 520 litres when the rear seats are in place; substantially more than you’ll get in the Nissan Qashqai or Renault Kadjar. Fold the seats, and boot space grows to 1,580 litres. The Peugeot 3008 is claimed to have class-leading connectivity, with technology including wireless smartphone charging and MirrorLink compatibility (a system the mirrors your smartphone’s screen on the car’s own screen). Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will also be available, allowing you to control many of your smartphone’s apps from the car’s touchscreen. The new 3008 will also be the first Peugeot to feature the firm’s second-generation i-Cockpit system. It’s a digital instrument display that replaces the car’s analogue dials and can be configured with a range of information including speed, fuel economy, available range and sat-nav instructions. The system is similar in concept to Audi’s Virtual Cockpit. EnginesThe new Peugeot 3008 engine range comprises of two petrol engines and four diesels. The petrol range is made up of a 128bhp 1.2-litre engine and a 163bhp 1.6-litre unit. The four diesel choices are a pair of 1.6-litre engines developing 98bhp and 118bhp and two 2.0-litre engines producing 148bhp and 177bhp. The most powerful petrol and diesel engines will only be available with a six-speed automatic gearbox; the rest of the range will have six-speed manuals. We’ll have to wait until November for information on running costs, but Peugeot has already said at least one diesel engine will emit less than 100g/km of carbon dioxide, making it exempt from road tax. New Peugeot 3008 hybridOur sister title Auto Express has been told the new 3008 will be among the first Peugeots to offer a plug-in hybrid engine. The 3008 hybrid won’t be available from launch, but with expected emissions of less than 50g/km, fuel economy around the 150mpg mark and an electric-only range of around 30mpg, it’s worth waiting for if you’re seeking the lowest daily running costs The 2017 hybrid 3008 will feature a small petrol engine powering the front wheels, and electric motors powering the rear wheels. It’s likely this technology will be at the expense of some of the car’s boot space. Safety & equipmentTwo trim levels will be available when the car goes on sale. The new Peugeot 3008 GT Line will feature LED headlamps all round, wireless inductive charging and satellite navigation. It’ll also come with the ‘Safety Plus Pack’, which comprises blind spot detection, lane keeping assistance and a driver attention alert system that can detect the driver’s level of fatigue. There are also adaptive headlights that automatically adjust their beam to stop them from blinding oncoming traffic. The Peugeot 3008 GT model will come with the most powerful engine in the range – the 177bhp 2.0-litre diesel – and a six-speed automatic gearbox. The GT includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a synthetic leather interior with contrasting stitching, and seats with electric adjustment and a massage function. Other standard-fit equipment includes adaptive cruise control, which can keep a set distance to the car in front on the motorway, and an electric tailgate that can be opened by waving your foot under the rear bumper. The 3008’s high standard of built-in safety has already been proven with a five-star result in independent Euro NCAP crash testing. This excellent result is partly thanks to the impressive roster of safety features fitted across the range, which includes speed-limit sign detection and recommendation. Other advanced systems include active safety braking and a collision warning system. This is linked to an automatic emergency braking system that lessens the severity of impacts or avoids collisions altogether by reducing the car’s speed when an oncoming hazard is detected. Lane-departure warning and an attention assist system are also available, as is automatic high-beam assistance, dipping your headlights automatically to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers. However, we’ve not ret received confirmation as to which systems will be standard on each trim level. Another practical feature available on the 3008 is parking assistance, which allows the car to steer itself into a parking space, leaving you to just operate the pedals. Optional scooterOne novel option is the electrically assisted ‘e-kick’ scooter. It folds and stows in the car’s boot when not in use and can be charged there using a docking station while the car is being driven. It has a range of 7.5 miles and takes an hour to charge. Peugeot says that with a top speed of 15mph, it’s intended to make journeys through city centres easier. There’s no word on price yet, however. http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/news/153458/all-new-peugeot-3008-suv-on-sale-in-2017
