Greatbirdlegend 1st Gear April 20, 2011 Share April 20, 2011 So if I don't want to vote, how? Police will come arrest me? http://www.elections.gov.sg/voters_compulsory.html What if I do not vote at an election? At the end of the election, the Returning Officer will put your name, together with all others who did not vote at the election, in the list of non-voters and pass that to the Registration Officer. The Registration Officer will then remove your name from the certified register of electors of the constituency you belong to. This means that you cannot vote at any subsequent presidential or parliamentary election, and you are disqualified from being a candidate at any subsequent presidential or parliamentary election. Mcf777 Turbocharged April 20, 2011 Share April 20, 2011 I missed 1 election, i think around 95 or 96 (forgeten the year). I went for holidays. 2yrs later, Election dept sent me a letter, ask me to give them evidence that i go holiday. Ask me for receipt, invoice, air-ticket and when did i made the booking (before or after the announment of the election date). I wrote them and told them they should sent me this letter within 3months (not 2yrs later when i throw away all the documents). I just photocopy my passport, sent to them and case closed. didnt pay any money.

Sotong_kia Neutral Newbie April 20, 2011 Share April 20, 2011 Leave blank, or draw anything else other than just one cross WITHIN 1 box,it is considered spoilt vote and will be counted as spoilt vote. Technically, even if you put a "TICK" on the right box, it is considered void. But in practical, I don't know, I didnt get involved in the vote counting, so I can't say...
