Come GE2016 , PAPies managed to add 1M more of New citizens , we will be it deep s--t. Same 70% vote SGean (1.6M) , PAPies will get 800K + 1M vote from new citizens , we will lost our citizen rights forever , right ? That is why they target 6.5M , currently 5.5M ? Vote for non-PAP now. Vote for our rights to vote in 2016. Vote anyone who is not from PAP. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Leok777 Clutched April 28, 2011 Share April 28, 2011 Which is why i' m convinced that pap will win becos they have 1 million new citizens who will vote for them without fail. The opp does not stand a chance cos there are quite a few people who still support pap. But at least we must try.

Maroon5 5th Gear April 28, 2011 Share April 28, 2011 act wat does a newly minted citizen know abt our past? their basis of comparison is always agst where they come fr and it can only b plus for them and the shorter stick for us true blue citizens, who grew w this country together, even in crowded trains, malls, swing singapore (hehe) we r surrounded by our own people, the same culture, tat unique accent, understand the same jokes, someone who prob fr the same sch, army unit, kampung previously. anyw my main pt is my coll is one of those prc newly minted citizens, she is totally aloof abt this and she is prob jus going to let her husband settle her vote, jus like how he settles her income tax filing. talk abt real interest in us. Ecaf Neutral Newbie April 28, 2011 Share April 28, 2011 it should only be fair that new citizens be made to wait for 10 years at least (just a rough figure) before they can cast their first vote. what is a new citizen to know about their new country for them to have the right to vote, if they have only "struggled" for only a couple of years? just my opinion. Theone2010 Neutral Newbie April 28, 2011 Share April 28, 2011 (edited) don chiu think the new citizen will eventually also suffer the same fate as us locals? like high cost of living, stressfully lives, HDB loans & bills to pay, tuitions & school fess etc. can hear some of my FT colleagues starts lamenting. Their offspring will be influences by the locals, e.g materialism. Edited April 28, 2011 by Theone2010

Their offspring will be influences by the locals, e.g materialism. My FTs colleagues are smarter. One of the spouse maintained the passport from their country of origin. The main plan is to earn enough. As long as Singapore is of benefits to them, they will stay... Else they will move back... The current salary is funding their in-country investment in property. In long run, they will move back and semi-retire comfortably.

This is double headed snake behavior. Recently there were reports on how many jobs these foreigners bring about for the benefit of Singapore. Think it was like out of 10 jobs, 6 jobs went to FTs, 4 jobs shared between Singaporeans and Malaysian PRs. Assume 2 Singaporeans and 2 MY PRs, effectively the 2 citizens have to put up with an extra 6 FTs vying for houses and public transport

He is maintaining his indian passport cos only citizens can invest in india. Once his kids grow up, he plans to move back to india. I believe that's what most FTs are planning..
