Hermitage 1st Gear July 19, 2011 Share July 19, 2011 It's happening at gear 1. When I move off, I feel that it does not "bite" well. But gear 2 onwards, it feels fine. Read online that it's very troublesome to change the clutch. But not sure how much it costs. Oh ya, the chia also like bo lark.. probably cannot expect too much for a 5 year old GLX. Almost certainly the clutch. You asked before, how to know when clutch up lorry? There...all the signs you have just discribed! Clutch slip is a very common indicator. Means it does not "bite" well. Gear 2 onwards less stressful for the clutch and you're already moving at speed, so easier to slip into gear. If dun change, further down the road you will feel slipping on gear 2 as well. Chia bo lark is because the the clutch disc cannot properly grip the flywheel. This causes the engine to spin faster than the transmission input shaft and hence, loss of power. Troublesome to change? Yah, if you're going to attempt to do the task yourSELF! But any workshop worth their salt should be able to change it with their metaphorical eyes closed! S$600+ should cover it though please don't hold me to that figure! Most of that cost will go into labour. But if you really wanna save $$$, do it in JB, labour costs are much lower there. Didn't know there is repad. But yours is cheap, given that it's an euro r. Btw, how long did your stock clutch last before your last change? The last time I changed mine, it costs me around 1k+ To replace the clutch. Didn't know there is repad. But yours is cheap, given that it's an euro r. I got this problem not everytime but as and when the car feels like to. I drove a automatic transmission car, sometime when i am at traffic light or up a highway slope during traffic jam. When i step on the accelerator, I can feel that my car is not biting the gear (or it is slipping) obviously with the car unable to move. This can be dangerous if it happen during a tarffic right turn. I tried to google all day and it seems like i am need to auto transmission over haul I hope anyone here can give me some advise.
