Due to inflation, I'll be paying an additional of 2 cents more in a couple more months to go.

How much increment am I paying in term of percentage?

I was told that it was 1% but I worked out to be 2.8%. Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

71 cents + 2 cents = 73 cents

2.8% of 71 cents = 0.01988 cents, hence 71 cents + 0.01988 cents = 0.73 cents. (rounded up to 2 decimal pl)

 

Where is the 1%? Or how do I get the 1%?

Ur answer is correct. The basis should be from 71 cents increase by 2cents hence 2.8% and not from 73 cents working backwards

err...i think should be like that...

 

out of this 2 cents increase ...but if 60.10% of the apple buyers dun mind the increase then 1.202 cents does not count as increase...

 

so actual increase is 0.798 cents only.

 

but wait....anything less than 10 cents ...like 5 cents n 1 cents many merchants not willing to accept...

 

so the real net increase is only 0.7cents...

 

so if u work 0.7cents / 71 cents = 0.9859%

= 1% (round up to the nearest whole number)

U nid factor in exchange rate etc

 

Maybe the 1 percent not a direct comparison price to price basis

Ahtong is a forumer here who likes to post this type of question.. Not testing you if you're sgrean.

 

Anyway the news is the two transport companies propose a 2cent price increase, which is about 2.8% hike. But PTC after review, cap the price increase at 1% max.
