Axeman24 2nd Gear November 15, 2011 Share November 15, 2011 Latio not a good car? How come? Frankly, maybe I am unlucky, the Latio I was driving after 4 years the air con starts giving problem. Then is the fan belt, change using original pulley and belt alway had squicking sound when I start the car in the morning, send to my mechanic, to the AD still cannot solve the problem. In the end I give up so that is why took the opportunity when the COE begin to go up I sell it and got back an Axio, initially wanted to buy brand new but new Axio was like 80k plus which I feel it was beyond what I want to pay so settle for a used Axio instead. No regrets till now. :)

Which is why, many people will try to change car within the 4-5 year old mark, to escape having wear & tear problems on the car.

Happily1986 5th Gear November 15, 2011 Share November 15, 2011 Heavy altis? Thought altis is quite light? The last JDM corolla sold by BM the G9's kerb weight is about 1050kg. The replacement Altis is about 1130kg. The 2008 Altis is 100kg heavier which makes to be about 1230kg. The 3ZZ-FE which has seen service in the G9 (1600cc), the 1st gen Altis and the 2nd gen Altis (excluding latest Dual VVT-i version) has virtually remained unchanged in output. That being said, the G9 is really too light to go beyond 120km/h. But we are in Singapore which does not encourage speeds beyond 90km/h, so i must say the G9 is really suited for our roads! haha Edited November 15, 2011 by Dero
Happily1986 5th Gear November 15, 2011 Share November 15, 2011 Agreed. It feels twitchy and doesn't inspire much confidence when pushed beyond 130km/h.

If you compared the altis with the G9 corolla, the altis confirm is heavy. Cause the G9 corolla really super light, i remember during that era people commented that the G9 corolla float during high speed.

Cause the G9 corolla really super light, i remember during that era people commented that the G9 corolla float during high speed. actually i think the floating feeling can be mitigated with experience and skill also. Given that the G9 is a FF car, it is prone to understeering also. So prior to entering a corner, one should judge for himself or herself the turning point. I generally steer early rather than late. If you steer late, chances you will encounter a greater and more apparent centrifugal force. if done correctly, it is possible to keep the car's rolling to a minimal when doing cornering. Of course if you are doing the slalom, then no hope lah
WONWON 1st Gear September 29, 2013 Share September 29, 2013 Superb car. Driving the last Made in Japan batch. Jan 2004. Like what many mentioned, only changed shock absorbers, belt, battery, tyres the wear and tear parts during the last 10 years. Engine is still solid, can cruise at 90KM/H at 2Krpm. FC 13-14KM/L. Very sad to scrap it. If COE is around 40K mark, I would have renewed the COE. ↡ Advertisement
