The grading only reflect whether it involve in accident not wear and tear parts. My friend just brought a 4 years old Honda odyessy from a used car dealer last week. The report very details on checking for accident. In the report my friend car all got 5 star for a lists of things they checked. After the dealer hand over the car to him he bring to his regular workshop for servicing. To his horror, the mechanic told my friend the engine hydraulic mounting is broken, power steering pump leaking, brake rotor surface uneven, brake pad finish, absorber leaking. Total repair bill 5k plus.

i really doubt what you say.

If serviced by Kah Motor (KM) all the while, might be good to bring back and also update your particulars with them.

Can call them up and provide vehicle number to check.

For normal servicing, KM might be more expensive but if you are totally clueless about any other workshops outside which might carrot you, you may be better off with KM.

Lots of wkshp can service Jazz. You can also join SHC forum and learn more there.

Enjoy your new ride!

can try VICOM. i recently sent a vehicle i intended to buy to them for inspection. price is $12x. very comprehensive inspection that includes chassis to see if the vehicle was involved in any major accident. there's also this paint thickness test which i'm most impressed. basically, it breakdown the paintwork into multiple sections and any variance is likely to indicate that a respray has taken place. in my case, it was evident that the both the door panels have been resprayed as the paint thickness index was more than double compared to the bonnet and boot area.

even though my car gotten a B grade, the engine oil leakage and uneven paintwork bothers me enough not to proceed with the purchase which shows i was right to send the vehicle for a comprehensive pre-purchase inspection.

how do u negotiate w seller/dealer to let u send the car to whatever workshop u want or STA/VICOM for inspection??

Maybe STA/VICOM still easy, but to let the seller/dealer let u take the car to ur preferred workshop to check??? What if later they claim something that was spoiled is caused by ur workshop??

VICOM/STA at least there is standard report.. I know dealer usually will say, above a certain grade, u will have to pay for the report and buy the car, below a certain grade, dealer pay for report and u can walk away... which is fair... except heard stories of STA mechanic jia lui lah... and work w dealer...
