Ilmw 1st Gear October 13, 2011 Share October 13, 2011 Home button not responsive can be due to software or hardware. If hardware, there are 3 suggestions on the Internet. 1. Blow compressed air into the 30-pin connector slot. With enough pressure, the compressed air will blow away the dirt accumulated at the home button contact points. 2. With your thumb and index finger holding the iPhone near the camera end, and waving the iPhone like a fan, slap the other end of the iPhone (the home button end) against your thigh. This "shock" will loosen up the dirt accumulated at the home button contact points. 3. Go to guardian or unity and buy a bottle of Isopropyl alcohol (costs S$2.xx). Ideally 100% concentrated but you will only find 70%. Power OFF the iPhone, and with a ear cotton bud, dip into alcohol and drip two drops onto home button. Alcohol will sip into the very fine slits of the home button. Depress the home button continuously with normal pressure. Do this for 5 minutes or so until u can see the alcohol has dried up. Use tissue to clean up everything on the outer surface. Power ON. If you combine all 3 methods above (esp method #2 & #3), your home button should be back to at least 90% health.

Metalsubzero Clutched October 13, 2011 Share October 13, 2011 Oh, my home button is also unresponsive.. Sometimes pressing it one time, the bottom list of programs that usually appears on a double-press appears.. If not I will have to press 2-3 times to get back to home screen.. Mine is still under warranty, so can go and change one-for-one rite? Is this a valid point for exchanges?
