think I must say that I have no choice but to ignore :D[:p] .... otherwise, my wallet is going to sucked dry every month except the chinese 7th month..

think most of the mid 30's members here like me will agree.... at this age range, you tend to receive more wedding invitation card than you are in 20's cause most friends, campmates. school mates & etc around is getting marry around this age..

Maybe it is a blessing for her, last I heard they stay in a district 11 condo and go for expensive holidays while I no money no condo and work 7 days a week for peanuts

It's a blessing for you la, do you want to fork out extra $500 just for montly maintenance fee?

So if she is happy now it's not your problem right? So if she not happy in furture also not your problem right?

Pardon my not-politically correct views. [;)]

Yup not my problem, I wish them all the best also, no hard feelings, seeing so many people divorce and unhappy in their marriage really puts me off marriage

Nothing to malu. If the couple die-die want face and go to high class hotel, then they must understand that there might be a price to pay. Chinese saying if your head not so big, don't wear so big hat.

The whole point of throwing the dinner is to invite and pay for the guests to let them share the newly wed's joy. Guests would bring a gift as a token and blessing for the coupe. Somehow this has de-generated into a social farce we know as wedding dinner today. <_<

This I totally agree, unfortunately a wedding which is suppose to celebrate an union of two parties has really become a farce of who's on your invite list, are your bosses coming and even better if the CEO of your rival company comes, then goes down to the hotel and the wedding car, etc etc...I wonder if I just secretly rom and have a family lunch at the summer pavilion will it be acceptable to any decent sg gal...the worse part is the higher you climb then more expectations people have of you, and the more gossip you will invite if you have a low profile affair

This is the truth. Because the couple invite a lot of hi-bye friends. What's the point? After all the troubles and hassles, some might even end up....!

Not as if their parents are 有头有脸 businessman or influential people, what the face they are talking about? Locals 太爱充胖子了。When we say THROWING a banquet, THROWING a dinner, the meaning is giving.

I also have a lot of relatives, 爷爷,奶奶,爸爸,妈妈,大伯父,大伯母,二伯父,二伯母, 三伯父,三伯母, 大姨,大姨丈......... having birthday celebration, and it somehow always clash with those unimportant wedding dinners.

So only the necessary ones I go.
