u are not comparing the same grades lei..

how can compare BMW 3(2L) with Toyota vios/altis(1.5/1.6L)

should compare 3-S with Lexus IS250,@ least both are small size car.

if 5S than have to compare with GS..

personally BMW(never my liking, many of my group use to drive BM,but i prefer MB cos of comfort+problemless engine)

but Lexus isnt far behind MB cos of their high end luxury design team..

as for price,Lexus is no cheaper than MB.. [knife]

Actually my main point isn't about engine size in this case. although i did bring up the fact that the altis and the vios lack power, it's more of a secondary issue. The reason why i used the altis vs 320 example is because i'm comparing common japanese cars to common conti cars in terms of luxury. The altis is one of the most common japanese cars around similar to how the 320 is one of the most common conti cars around. The lexus is clearly not a common jap car. Even if you were to use lexus to compare, it lacks prestige in comparison to Mercedes or BMW. Most people will label it as a toyota with a lexus badge. There is a reason why people have been buying conti cars rather than jap cars with the COE prices skyrocketing.

I have to disagree .... owned the E90 and currrently driving the W204 .... the door for the BMW feel more solid compared to the Merc.

The japs are way behind the BMW if one compare "How solid are the doors for the car ?".... it does make me wonder why the Japs cannot build door like the many contis around.

Yeah i've noticed. Maybe their emphasis is on frontal collision rather than side impact? Usually japanese sports car would have slightly thicker and heavier doors. But it still can't compare to the germans. My friend, being used to his car's rather light door, opened the door of my w124 and was like "wah why your door so heavy?". My response was that it's a german car so that's expected. Of course this causes the car to be heavier increasing FC but it's still nice to know that your car is solid.
