subarudreamer 2nd Gear April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 i see, good information for potential buyers of pre-launch cars. They mentioned should COE went up. Logically the price will went up but it shall be locked at max with the price quoted to me and interest shall be locked as well as such I see it a win win solution for me thus accept the offer. Obviously I looking to see the quoted price to drop so if it somehow maintain then I shall withdraw without any loss to me. Should COE drops then the prices also drop with possible special discount. I liked the car thus the decision just that the price is not suitable to me based on current COE. On the other hand, I shall have priority rights in terms of delivery and colour selection should I be keen to proceed to order. ↡ Advertisement
Hobbes187 3rd Gear April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 The braking distance is longer, probably due to the fact that the Geolander is an all-season SUV tyre. Agree, must remind myself to keep a longer distance in case of e-brake! By the way, I would like to check with fellow XV owners here on the auto start/stop system. I find that when I stopped at the junction with auto stop activated, the car will auto start again (after a short while, 5-10secs) especially during day time. Could this be due to the a/c temperature settings? It is quite obvious in the last few weeks, probably due to the hot weather. The auto start/stop will perform better in the evening/night, or when a/c is off. All feedback welcome! Thanks. Yup happens to me too. When the ac is turned on high and if more gadgets are on or charging phone, the auto stop will be shorter. I guess there is a threshold where it will start if the reserve power gets below the threshold. They are releasing a new variant of the XV which is the premium version with more gadgets and electronics. The last is the bare bone car, I have booked as a form of interest by opening a cheque but refundable should I find the pricing is not acceptable as prices not officially out and no demo car is here as yet. What are the main differences they told you besides the cruise control, keyless start and touchscrenn audio? How much did they quote you? I guess externally it still looks the same. Hopefully you get sunroof like the 2.0 used to have.
raaa 1st Gear April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 The start stop feature will be more evident when you have a voltmeter installed. Under normal driving, voltmeter usually shows 14.6v. When start stop kicks in, voltage drops to abt 12.7v. Whatever gadget/audio/aircon that is left on will continue to deplete the battery until abt 12v. Once it hits 12v, the engine will restart to begin the charge cycle. Just to share a small observation. You can actually 'force' the start stop to kick in by depressing the brakes harder when car is stationery at the lights. Likewise, you can prevent it from kicking in by not stepping as hard. raaa 1st Gear April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 Both HU and speakers, the entire ICE is just too basic. Before any fellow XV owners are too eager for the ICE upgrade, please try this first... hope the link works...
cmdsea 3rd Gear April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 Edited: Sorry cmdsea, just noticed you have actually replied on who blinks first. You could be right on this but IMO the popular ADs unlikely to blink (strange but that seems to be the case). You may have to settle with the not so popular brands. Maybe you test waters with Subaru and Ford before you bid since it's your top 2 choices? Otherwise once you secure the COE and they don't blink, you could have a problem. You have a valid point, but my insurance policy if I dont think I am getting a good deal from either Subaru or Ford would be to get a Honda Vezel from a PI... as there are multiple vendors I am quite sure you would find someone willing to negotiate... and you only need one

Observed today (total about 10minutes - (sound crazy right?) in several stop at traffic lights), normally can go up 87seconds with no issue. Perhaps it was early in the morning and AC was set at 25c. I think the AC is the major contribution of overall start/stop duration. Before any fellow XV owners are too eager for the ICE upgrade, please try this first... hope the link works... Just check the HU of XV is not the same as in the clip, but will try to use same method to find out "untold" secret. Thanks for the sharing.

Will try to set at 25c and see if auto stop will last longer. Thanks.

Nowadays, I turn off the auto stop/start in the day during heavy jam because I find it annoying to keep stopping and restarting... I leave it on at night and I find it tends to stop longer. Rainyday 2nd Gear April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 Tried to uncover the untold secret of the HU and I got it! Now the bass is heavier and louder than before, I just switch on Key 1+ 4 to through mode and satisfied with my Cranberries CD now. Thanks raaa! Now the bass is heavier and louder than before, I just switch on Key 1+ 4 to through mode and satisfied with my Cranberries CD now. Thanks raaa! I think the stock speakers are actually not bad. Correct me if im wrong but there are actually built in tweeters at each corner of the dashboard. I have a pioneer HU that allows me to tweak the EQ and im happy with the sounc from the speaker system. Perhaps the stock HU doesnt allow changing the EQ so obviously so the sound is poorer. Glad you found this hack.

Hobbes187 3rd Gear April 25, 2015 Share April 25, 2015 Sharing a little thing I did to my car to solve the fact that we don't have steering wheel remote. I bought a pioneer steering remote on Ebay and attached it to my steering wheel and it worked perfectly. I think it looks pretty good and not too out of place. The signal is strong and now I can easily adjust my audio volume and change tracks without having to fiddle with the unit. The catch is it works only with pioneer units but there is one on aliexpress selling for about $5 that is supposed to be able to learn and work with all units that can take remote signals.
cmdsea 3rd Gear April 26, 2015 Share April 26, 2015 Visited Expo this morning and MI have the new XV on display if anyone is interested. Love the interior. Bluetooth, Stereo and cruise controls on the steering wheel, along with Pioneer big screen HU and keyless entry. Unfortunately hate the pricing, now at $121,800 and that is supposedly the show "special". No longer the relative bargain it used to be...
Rainyday 2nd Gear April 27, 2015 Share April 27, 2015 hobbes187, nice steering cover! I also bought one from US, it is silicone type, feel so much better than the skinny steering wheel. Just went for 5k service, so far so good, car can feel much more lighter than before. MI also apply some grease on my tail gate to make it more smoother to close despite I didn't highlight to them, nice! By the way, heard those book with low price 103k (after 4 bids already) is yet to collect car, hope the next COE bidding with increase quota can secure, good luck. Micb 5th Gear April 28, 2015 Share April 28, 2015 Nice one, bro Hobbes187 ! Handy to have the remote nearby. How much for the damage? Feel more updated with the new interior. The centre dash with the new integrated HU looks good and the steering controls as well. Now it is on-par with its nearest and direct rival, the S-Cross. Both are AD cars, with 5 years warranty and servicing package. Head to head fight, with similar pricing now (based on 121.8k).

It is totally worth it as the Pioneer HU buttons are too small and difficult to press while driving. The remote can even switch off the unit which is troublesome to do using the onscreen controls. Does the new XV look the same externally? Anyone took photos of the interior to share? Is the HU a Subaru factory fitted one or local pioneer kind? I saw the US 2015 version has the color LED display between the speedo. Edited April 28, 2015 by Hobbes187

I bought the cover from Qoo10 for about $18. It's full leather and sent from China seller. I find the white stitching matches the car seat stitching very well. Like you say, it makes the steering wheel much better to hold and control. At 103k I think MI can only bid around 56-58k... chances look slim...
