Hi,

Sorry to hear about your mom mishap. You may want to check at Rehab mart

You may either buy new or check under the 'recycle' for used equipment. They may also providing rental service and the price is very reasonable. Have got medical supplies/equipment for my late father there.

As some bros have suggested, may wish to check how long she would be needing it before deciding to either rent or buy. The last time my wife went thru a op on her ankle, she used an office chair instead. ( those with castors)

As for the step at the door, as long as there is someone to help her around, the wheelchair would be able to go thru with not much problem. Just like parents pushing a baby stroller.

Wish your mother a speedy recovery. Take care.

Hi all,

My mum fall down and fracture her hip. She will need to undergo an operation sometime around this week. Have to start planning now as she will back home in about 2 to 3 weeks time. Would appreciate if any bro/sis here know where can I buy/rent wheelchair for short term use. Also, as I'm staying at those old HDB flat where there are steps in frnot of the main door. Will need to get a ramp for the wheelcahir to get in & out of the house, as well as the toilet. Your advise & help is much appreciate. Thank you

bro, you can consider seeking some advice from rehab king. I bought some walking aids from them last year. Cannot remember the name of the boss but he was very friendly and helpful.

Rehab mart is good and there is quite a few . Google for it. I think there is another online retailer -Rainbowcare also offer quite good pricing. Btw, for older folks dont get a wheelchair but a transport chair instead. The transport chair is like a wheelchair but with smaller wheels as most older folk dont have the upper body strength to push themselves as need someone to push them instead. Also a transport chair is alot lighter and smaller to carry around or put in a car.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your advice & suggestion.

The doctor has not done the operation for my mum yet, as her condition is not stable at the movement. Am asking it in advance, so that can plan ahead.
