Ecu tuning

Ok understood. Means, only do tuning when I finish with the last hardware mod. 1 more question, does Dastek Unichip have a throttle control function? anyone knows? Cos 1 workshop says throttle control is never part of the Unichip, another Workshop says it is there all along.

i guess it's cos your question was confusing.

In tuning, one of the main parameters is to control the amount of fuel that is to be burnt. So in that sense all tuning will "control" the throttle (which determines how much fuel is fed).

But if you're asking whether there are "economy", "normal", and "sports" settings, then I think most tuning will not have this unless they provide an external device for you to choose which mode you want on-the-fly.

Fwah the w/s owners damn fast to advertise.

Iczboi, if you only change your air intake(I suppose you mean change to some open pod crap or whatnot), then it's no point tuning if your aim is more power.

Tuning is only good if your engine block has untapped reserves or tuned down high spec version, you changed a turbo or installed a stoker kit or exhaust system, did a piston/bore mod or changed engine.

actually my aim not focusing on Power. I am more focused with efficiency of fuel and of cos alittle power gain.

If that is what you want, just stay stock.

End of the day a car owner wants to save money from fuel efficiency but before they achieve that they spent alot of money on tuning hardware or ECU.

A friend of mine, went to tune ECU at a big name WS after all the hardware mods were done up and the chip caused more issues for him.

Maybe he is unlucky but end of the day, to breakeven the savings vs the money spent on mods to achieve that small gain, its your call :)

Looks like modding a stocked car has no significant benefits... other than that few 10 to 15% gain...

10 to 15% gains?

That's quite significant already.

Power & fuel efficiency is interlinked, u can only have benefit of one to the detriment of the other.

My car is tune to suit jb petrol ron97..

Best way is to pump a full tank of jb petrol and go for tunning to prevent knocking or whatever..

Not sure if after tuning can go J.B pump 95 or not.

i say if you have tuned and pump 95 Ron, expect to see white smoke at exhaust when car is stationary halt.

Tell me how you feel ?

Better not go in at this moment till a week later after they had tone down.

not all their mentality not yet settled due to some fraud issues. there will surely be some trouble makers around trying to loot or stir.

Hi, I'm new here. Anyone knows where I can get my Citroen DS3 tuned? I understand that the same engine is in 200 bhp tune in the DS3R and the DS4 but in my DS3, it's only putting out 150bhp. I'd love to have an additional 50 horses to saddle up.

Fabulous X Pte Ltd - Is this workshop reliable for tuning?

NOPE! I installed my Unichip there, promised me Dyno-tune, showed me all the charts of cars they did.

When i go collect my car, told me they used road tune instead, mine is an OPC, ask me to buy day-license, told me they give me discount, but charge me dyno price.

After that drive my car, realized FC was worse than before, wiring job was done badly.

No point for me to go back complain, they will just brush you off with their BS.

Lesson learnt.

imo do tuning when you are sure that hardware mod is the last you want to do.. unless you like to keep tuning/dynoing.

True but seriously when will it ever be the last performance mod?

I think cars in stock form will still gain a lot from a proper tune (fuel consumption and power). However, it depends on car as well. Drive the car for awhile and you should know if it needed a tune (e.g. as mention, more room to tap for power). It'll be good to at least have simple mods done prior to tuning like exhaust to free up the flow. But I'm sure most people with cars like that would have an after market exhaust anyway.

Wrong. Depending on car. Mine went from 270BHP (as spec online, forgot to get graph from before) to 340AWHP. Say the car got 70HP as losses, that'd be from 200AWHP to 340AWHP. This is more than 50% increase from stock power without significant effect on fuel consumption for normal driving. Boost went from 0.8bar to 1.15bar for this to happen. I was expecting to push 1.4bar boost through it but the tuner told me theres something in the system not hold the boost over 1.15bar. So we left it there. Note is if the car can make power, it will make power. If it doesnt and you force it, maybe go kaput.

However, as I mention above, you need to understand your car before that. You should know what are the gains from your tune. Ask tuners or car specific forums about that. They should be able to help you more.

No one car is the same when it comes to tuning and its very important to find a good tuner (doesnt have to be the best). A R34 GTT with around 450RWHP cant even keep up with mine on high way and he was bragging about how much HP his car got in a car meet.

Dont know about the tuning scene in Singapore but I reckon tuning will make you love your car even more... better response, more power, more torque but only 1 loss, $$.

I think it is well known that TC cars are able to extract lots of power from a simple reflash, even when it's stock. I don't drive a TC car, but I read that from those who drive one and tuned. I read one guy who gained 50bhp just by a reflash, don't know true or not. (Sorry, no experience in this area)

For NA, it is more for fuel consumption and driving pleasure. Surely there are some gains involved. Some say 10 - 15%, some say 20%.

can tune Altis? with no legal exhaust....i think some ppl say no use is for B&B cars like Altis where there is no legal exhaust and the profile is for quiet and comfortable ride. 10% of 100hp is only 10hp.

Everybody know a sports car, especially turbo cars when tuned is much better.
