I am currently driving a jap car almost 5 years, distance travelled 150k. Few months back i noticed i m getting lesser mileage per litre. I did an oil change, replaced plugs and air filter, however fuel consumption remains the same. I was told it might be the o2 sensor. Is it the o2 sensor gave way? Where should i get it replaced and cost? Any advice, Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info bro. You are right i've checked some resources and the CEL light will light up if the o2 sensor faulty. I think it might due to wear and tear since its almost 5 yrs. Petrol consumption dipped from 10-11km/l to 9-10km/l at usual driving. Need to know from the forumers here whether the dip is significant or telling me something is brewing under the bonnet. Thanks

Can consider cleaning the MAF sensor and the throttle and also blasting out the carbon in NSHW with a injector cleaner.

1) Tyre pressure plays a part.

2) Urban or expressway driving plays a part.

3) Driving style plays a part as well.

If cleanning TB, gotta take note that FC wl suffer for a wk or 2, so don't be alarmed.

Tyre ... Shocks......alignment...all affect fc. If u scared o2 sensor...get an obdii bluetooth reader and download torque....u check all the car rwadings u want. Maf...o2....intake temp....fuel.....a/f ratio.

So far has not encounter any FC affected instead the power gain is immediate. Used to clean

Air filter, MAF and throttle the same time

Thanks guys for the info. I think ill go with cleaning the MAF and TB. See how it goes. Forgive me, usually i got freaked out whenever my ride starts to behave suspiciously. Id rather spend some dough to rectify it now than regret later, even it might be minor issue.

Hi guys,

Just to share with everybody.

I bought 2 x O2 sensor from stockist and had it changed in JB. Total cost around $300 SGD. I was quoted replacing 1 sensor for almost the same price in Sing. For O2 sensor, it is advisable to change both as the one which is not replaced might turn faulty too since they were fitted in the same timing. Now no more CEL light up and I believe fuel consumption will turn better though I have yet to monitor it.
