When Can We Retire ..............

i think Govt would not want hdb flats to be too affordable for one unsaid reason, that is to keep us working till we are old. If flats are affordable, many ppl can pay up within 10yrs or so (friends who bought bto abt 10yrs ago already paid up their loan fully), the wives can afford to be homemakers, and not go out to work. Those without kids or earn a lot can afford to semi-retire at younger age, is this what our govt want?

 

As for renting out hdb, I know quite a few PRs who are doing that. They bought hdb yrs ago, rent it out and they themselves stay in condo or stay in msia. The rental can allow them to retire in msia at a young age. What can hdb do? Foreigners are benefitting from our hdb when some of us, true blue singaporeans, cannot even buy hdb.

Thank you deep deep MIW for making sgp the very few countries which give more benefits to PRs vs citizens relative to the respective obligations to the country eg NS etc.

 

Suggestions: stop this now. what's done cannot be undone (cant take away what has been given, but stop giving the same to new PRs is only logical), but to continue the same way, means miw doesnt care....
