Just for an update.

I went along to check on changing the horn on my K3.

Very helpful staff.

I was told that the Hella Red is not accepted by LTA because the decibell output of 118db is above the limit of 110db. Not only that but if you still want to fit then it requires an extra bit to installed into the wiring etc, no problem and still cost S$55.

Any way I checked my horn again from outside the car time and the sound was quite acceptable to me.  Sounding the horn when inside the car still sounds a bit blah but now decide not to change.

Hella Red Twin tone is legal.

I believe you are talking about Hella Super tone

When i bought my car, have to top up 2k to get motrex so 1.5k seems a good deal.

Motrex does not have built-in GPS and uses android auto or carplay to mirror hp's google map onto the screen. Advantange is up to date map which is free. Downside your phone need to have 3g/4g connection or you need to download the map area onto your phone if you want to use google map with 3g/4g turn off. Do note that some aftermarket HU also have android auto or carplay.

Aftermarket HU are cheaper. Besides this, you can look for workshops to mod the set to allow you to watch video while car is on the move. Some can mirror whatever is on the hp screen onto it. Motrex as of now can only watch video via usb when in park mode and listen to audio via usb or internet radio. However, aftermarket HU may not be able to integrate well with your steering wheel audio controls. My steering wheel audio controls work well with my motrex. If you dont mind the possibility of losing out steering wheel audio control, aftermarket HU may be a better option.

I realised from this thread that there are a lot of features that SX has that EX dont have. Kia SE should have done a better job of highlighting the difference between this 2 models rather than rely on the info thats available in their brochure

Hi guys,

I have been driving my FL SX since Nov '16. As a result of bros here giving feedback that you can only watch video when in park mode and that I had to top up $1.5k to get motrex, I decided to install a Pioneer AVH-X8850BT HU right after I collected my car. The cost for this and a reverse camera is about $1.1k. My previous ride had a Pioneer HU with no issues. Hence, it did not take much for me to decide on installing a current model Pioneer HU.  I am happy to report that all the steering wheel audio controls (mute, volume, next track, answer call, reject call) work well.  The USB output from the HU is connected to the UBS port that is next to the cigarette lighter jack in the car.  Both Car Play and Android Auto work on this HU.  As my phone is a Nexus 5x, I mainly use Android Auto to access google maps, spotify and whatsapp.  The voice recognition of google is quite impressive in that it recognises most voice commands at first go giving me enough confidence to reply whatsapp or SMS messages by voice. Videos saved on my USB drive can be played while on the move.

Thanks for your concern... [:)]

I don't watch movies while driving. It's the legacy music videos I downloaded from youtube to my USB drive in my previous Pioneer HU that i wanted to access. [laugh]

Good luck for this coming Coe bidding. If maintain at 50k, high chances we will collect the car soon. Heard from my SE, they will bid 45-50k and KIA dun have any backlog to clear.

Anybody use this HU before? Any bad review? Got DVD player, gps, Bluetooth reverse camera

Apparently any horn which is above 110dB is illegal here.

Any bros encounter slight jerking when Acceleration uphill with full load especially on 3rd gear? The jerking feels like you throttle & releasing multiple times making the car jerk forward and backward (very slightly) . i am 100% sure i had my throttle down without releasing

Have you gone to CnC to check?

I think i experience this yesterday, my car got 4 pax include me, and the low gear seem to be more significantly jerky while you accelerate..

On Cold start, low gear also jerky while shifting.

Think will drive to CnC to check.

I have experienced this with just myself and no other passengers going up a gentle incline.  It is a slight shudder, specifically at 40km/h in Eco drive mode.

Initially, I thought it was some mechanical issue.  But I recall my SE explaining the difference in drive modes.  When in Eco mode, the gear upshifts faster than in Normal mode which in turn upshifts faster than in Sports mode.  In other words, when going up an incline at 40km/h, the car should ideally be say in 2nd gear but Eco mode upshifts it to 3rd gear which is not ideal and hence the shudder.  With that in mind, when I encountered the shudder again at 40km/h, I press on the left paddle shifter, downshifting by a gear and the shudder disappears.  After a few times grappling with this manual override when encountering the shudder, I got a little hackneyed and decided to use the Normal drive mode abandoning the Eco drive mode altogether. That seems to solve the issue.

I am using normal mode all the way. For pre fl, the mode is there just for the steering feel (heavier or lighter) and got nothing to do with gear shifting. Manual downshifting does solve the problem but I thought auto should be smart/fast enough to detect any underpower situation and to downshift according without manual intervention.manual downshift does solve the problem but Huh... I may be wrong though

So all this issue is happening is due to the drive mode eco function. If put in normal mode then we should not have this problem right?

Any idea of the feature differences between this base L and EX model?

Based on photos of exterior, I see no fog lights, no DRL, black door handles, black side mirrors (without side indicators), black 'Tiger Nose' grille (quite nice actually), steel hubs with cover (like those you see on Uber/Grab). Internally not too sure, but I suspect none of the 'Premium' features of the EX/SX. Tail lights should be those without LED strip as well.

Singapore motor show 2017 thread someone mentioned no rear aircon and fabric covered seats

Infact it happen in both ECO Mode and Normal Mode.

For ECO mode like you say driving up slope you will feel the car seem to start jerking, like the gear stuck somewhere, for me i paddle shift the gear up, and press harder on the accelerator, thus, this resolve the jerking.

For Normal mode, not very obvious, but if you are on a cold start, or you have 4 adult passenger in your car, it will happen.

I conclude that both mode has this issue, and it always happen at around speed 40km. Seem like the lower gear is not responsive enough. Not sure CnC can do something with this...

So all this issue is happening is due to the drive mode eco function. If put in normal mode then we should not have this problem right?

Nothing to do with Drive mode.

But you can try to ask 4 adults to sit in your car, and you use Eco Mode, i can say, the low gear will give you a significant jerk at slope or on a normal road....

To solve this shudder feeling, only way is step harder on your accelerator..then when the speed goes up, that shuddering/jerking will be gone.
