Fluffy Clutched April 5, 2006 Share April 5, 2006 Surbo only works on manual car. Does not work at all in auto cars. Why? Becoz for surbo to work, you need to drag the gear a little bit. yes, tried it on my auto, it means you gotta put to gear 1 then 2 as such. Tried for a week ...... doesn't do squat. In fact, engine felt suffocated from lack of air..... nearly stalled going across a road which could have likely resulted in the oncoming car crashing into me the surbo device is pretty small. Heng puts a piece of rubber ring around it, then stuffs the device into your air intake hose. By the time that is then, the effective area for air to pass thru has almost reduced to half. no wonder car nearly stalled. as for money back return, yes, Heng will honor the the money back guarentee. Of couse he will show you an unhappy face, take out the device, leaving some silicon still there, and disappear for a long time (by that time, you don't know if he was coming back) and then return with your money about 1/2 hour later. Then you try to clean as much silicon out as possible and get my mechanic to help cos i don't know what will happen should silicon fly into the engine.... Will i try it again?....No.

Apollo 1st Gear April 6, 2006 Share April 6, 2006 dun bother... if u understand low speed turbulence, you will understand that airflow within the intake air duct r not laminar (smooth flowing) contrary to what is advertised. the vector field across the boundary layer is turbulence, creating more turbulence does not help since the viscid forces (air) r incompressible. the only way to compress more air is to draw in cooler air since cooler air has a higher density compared to hot air, but at temperature of 100degC, this is not significant too. Yc86 Clutched April 29, 2006 Share April 29, 2006 If not mistaken the RC cars are using NitroMethane in their fuel. Now who wants to volunteer his/her car for testing...? RC helis and planes using too... heli using 30% nitro, 1 gallon (3.78L) costs $48.. that's about $12.7/L but nitromethane attracts water... good for one time use, but no gd for keeping overnight in ur fuel tank
Yc86 Clutched April 29, 2006 Share April 29, 2006 Anyone tried the twin surbo yet? Thinking of some cheap upgrade to my car performance.... right... twin surbo.. then they will have sequential surbos, and anti lag for surbos.. still dun get how it works thou... is the surbo a one way spinning fan? or are the blades stationary??? Yc86 Clutched April 29, 2006 Share April 29, 2006 Please check with http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/ before purchase. mmm... from that site, it seems that surbo is just a piece metal tube with twisted blades inside.. and it didn't give a v.good review on it sometimes one has to stop and think. how can something that obstructs the path of air help? then after installing that, do hi-flow filter, CAI.... etc like order XL double cheeseburger, XL Fries... and then Diet Coke. Boyboy 1st Gear May 1, 2006 Share May 1, 2006 I'm somewhat skeptical, but I'm treating this as an experiment. And there's this 30 day money back gurantee if it doesn't work. This guy has a lot more to lose than me. So i'll give it a shot.

Boyboy 1st Gear May 1, 2006 Share May 1, 2006 really ah? so i may assume it didn't work for u? I believe the setup is important, assuming it works. Another issue may be that for some cars it just doesn't work. An 80 bucks experiment for me when i find the time..
Boyboy 1st Gear June 4, 2006 Share June 4, 2006 ok this is my mini review which i posted on EVC forum.. I have also read the review on the ford mondeo. Point to note, my air intake is actually smaller and the surbo does not pose a restriction in my case. perhaps they should have different sizes. Pros: 1. increased pickup (18s 0-100 for my D65. my previous best was 22s, done at night some more.. this 18s was achieved on a hot day) 2. better fuel consumption (supposedly..). i believe so as less throttle is needed to maintain cruising speed on the highway. Cons: 1. "Snake oil" reputation. u must be thick skinned to show off ur surbo in front of car enthusiasts.. hahaha. 2. it is not easy to "activate". the designer/inventor/installer (Mr Heng) will teach u how to do it, but it requires practice. if not activated the performance is as before, no noticeable change (at least it doesn't deprove! phew) 3. for my case, maybe due to poor technique, it is very jerky when i try to activate the surbo. but the surge is there. 4. the sealing must be perfect. if there is air being sucked in between the engine n the surbo, the effect is lost. but if u encounter this, can go back to heng.. some pple complain abt ineffectiveness but i suspect it is due to this 5. the way i see it, if u wanna do other air intake mods after u do surbo, can forget it, due to reason 4. your intake may also need to be rerouted for surbo. whether it is worth the try, up to u. for those who like to do many mods, this is definitely not for u. for those who wanna improve pickup a bit n FC, can consider. but if u wanna just put ur foot down n drive without having to modulate tha gas pedal, this gadget will have little benefit too.. for me it works for now. i hope the sealing lasts! =P
