Extract from SCDF's Fire Code on provision of automatic sprinkler system: Every storey of a building, except that of Purpose Group I or II, the habitable height of which is more than 24m irrespective of whether or not the compartmentation requirements are complied with
Purpose group I : small residential (bungalows, semi detached, terrace)
Purpose group II: residential other than group I
Suites fall under group II and is obviously more than 24m in habitable height. So there is no sprinkler system in habitable floors. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Whether a particular development requires a sprinkler system is not solely based on that clause of the Fire Code. There are other factors apart from habitable height, namely the compartmentation size (Chapter 3), natural ventilation provision (Chapter 2), mixed-used or purely single Purpose Group (PG) development (Chapter 1) etc.

Essentially, Marina Bay Suites is not solely a PG II development. And of course, there would be certain waivers (not made known to public) that the base architect would have applied and got them approved under FSSD.

Nonetheless, it is heartening to see someone browsing through the Fire Code.

Cheers!
