Made in Singapore but these cars made in hyundai jurong does not enjoy any special incentives at all, maybe a few thousand discount cap also better than nothing but we get $0 discount for local manufacturing.

for example, cut a bit of profit and C&C should price it cheaper. They still sure earn when sell in Singapore.

Air - $190K

Earth - $205K

GT-Line - $240K

Agree. Made in SG but still equally expensive. Might as well buy other made in elsewhere brands.

Blame Govt lor.

Cost to produce not much cheaper compared to imported. Taxes still the same.

@Bmxcar Yes, that’s correct! The Kia EV5 will be produced at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore (HMGICS)—a major step in localized, high-tech EV manufacturing.
The CAT A version (likely referring to Singapore’s Category A COE compliance) makes it more accessible to a wider range of buyers.
It’s exciting to know that the EV5 will be available in Q2 2025—definitely a model to watch for with its modern design, practicality, and tech-forward features.

Pricelist from Cycle & Carriage for the EV5 Cat A models.

Price is high in the B&B territory compared to the likes of BYD Atto 3, MGS5 EV, GAC Aion V, Chery Omoda E5, Proton eMas7.

The Cat B GT-Line AWD is asking too much.

Wow, sadly EV5 price is kind of on the high side, let alone the high COE nowadays. Let's see if KIA will bring in little brother EV3 in coming months to SG or next year.

Not sure if they are greedy for profit or what… At the price point can get a lot of good cars.

The OMV also around 30k++ ……

Somemore how to compete with BYD, Xpeng, Zeekr, MG or even Tesla….

Test drove the EV5 last week. Note that the signal stalk is on the right instead as they are trying to cater to Singaporean japanese mindset instead of their own customer base. Was not used to it as I only drive Korean cars with the signal on the left. Dealbreaker for me.

Not surprising KIA sold so few EVs in 2025, this EV5 is really poor value for both trims.

The entry trim at $178k has low range, slow acceleration, slow charging speed, no ventilated seats and very few parking/driving assists. The Aion has much better features for a lower price.

The higher trim at $198k is at Model Y/G6 category. Not sure why anyone would choose the Kia over them.

Because many are still sceptical on the quality of Chinese made cars, the very same mindset ppl had on Korean cars 20+ years ago.

Since the EV5 is built here, there shouldn't be any exercise duty (20% of OMV) which should translate to a lower cost for the car. Unless the dealer makan the savings...

They will tell you that it’s made here but parts are imported in, so still taxable. Buy EV also got petrol tax on road tax. They can come up all sorts of excuses just to keep the money coming in. No tax, ask Mr Tan.
