Pauly75ts Neutral Newbie June 11, 2002 Share June 11, 2002 Hi! there, Fabiaman, Doing oil change is quite straight forward, with the car warmed-up, unscrew the drain plug at the oil sump, CAUTION!! the oil might be hot. Don't dropped the plug into the pan, check for any fillings on plug, should be a magnetic plug, after draining, clean the surrounding area before screwing the plug back on. Remove oil filter, with pan under it to collect any drip of oil, clean area around, screw in new oil filter after putting some oil around the gasket, tighten with your hand until it's tight. To be environmentally friendly, dispose of filter & old oil at nearest w/shop that has recycle bin. If not so friendly, the nearest drain, btw, if at TB house, never dispose at the swimming pool. Skoda_Man Neutral Newbie June 12, 2002 Share June 12, 2002 Oil change is easy, but disposal is a pain in the arse. I rather pay a little to get people to change the oil and filter, not expensive to change those 2 items lah. As you can always bring your own filter and oil to workshop and they chanrge you labour

Will continue discussion abt changing oil at CHANGING OIL DIY thread at: http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=22 Have a few questions to ask you... tks! --------------------------- Fab, I suggest you go to Mech to change.. I mean, how much can you save ??? Not all Mech Workshop have their oil disposal cans open and normally they are tighted over the weekend cos they do not want spillage accidents. What if you make a mistake and accidentally damaged the environment.. and plse do not dispose in the drain (Paulty must be joking on this !!). We are not that cultured or uneducated to do that right ?? my 2 cents of concern..

Pauly75ts Neutral Newbie June 12, 2002 Share June 12, 2002 Hi! there, Cool, We over here are quite conscious of our environment, otherwise our gov will remind us in our fine city. But we can't say the same for our neighbours. Ever since I stayed in P.Ubin, I get to see all sorts of rubbish at the straits. The time that I go sailing at the SAF Yacht Club, we had to swim in the waters there for our course. I just can't wait for the new clubhouse to open at the east coast, then there'd be cleaner water, stronger winds. Rgds Paul Yong
Cool Neutral Newbie June 15, 2002 Share June 15, 2002 Yes.. ... You see, we can spent 70K+ to 200K+ on our car and it is sad that we are miser over the small little things that can do damaged to the world... not even putting it at risk !! What is an oild change cost => S$120, break down into 12 months =) $10 Further breaking into days it is about 9 cents per day. For 9 cents per day, is it worth the risk ??? my 2 cents of environmental sharing..
Pauly75ts Neutral Newbie June 15, 2002 Share June 15, 2002 Hi! there, Cool, That's the same, when i visit a tyre shop, or wheel-alignment shop. Most people who drives more expensive cars are requesting for a lower priced tyre, rather than a safer one. Rgds Paul Yong

So i guess most of us.. would just drive to a workshop and get them to do it..... furthermore.. changing engine oil can be quite messy stuffs... ↡ Advertisement
