Battery or alternator problem?

i need ur kind expertise here.......i recently changed my car battery to the maintainance free type. after i drive for a month or so.....the battery died on me in JOHOR!!! wah liow...panic like what!!!! luckily being an ex saf driver i know what to do.....push start liow....... it works ......after reaching sg safely i checked and realise that the battery has go bust.......i prick open the covering and there was no battery water left. i gingerly top up with battery water and my car cranks up okay....so now my maintainance free battery become need to maintain battery. i checked in with the battery shop and he show me that the alternator is overcharging the battery thus leaving it dry.....i look and checked the voltmeter and see that the reading really goes to beyond 16volts so he confirmed that my alternator need changing....

 

any of u guys has the same problems....any lobang to share?

so what help do you need?.....as your mech has confirmed it is the alternater problem......

the voltmeter we installed reads the battery's voltage? or the alternator's voltage? does a wattmeter important too?

It reads the voltage...when the engine is off...it shows the battery voltage and when the engine is on, you will see the voltage rising higher value due to the charging....

 

and you meant ammeter, is it?....

y no multimeter? can read all sort of readings...

Hi! there, Jasper,

 

Multimeter not for testing alternator, if there's a spike from it, it'd blow the fuse of the Multimeter.
