The 8C Competizione is a Maserati 4200GT-based two-seat concept with a history. It was supposed to be at the Paris show in '02 as the Sportiva Evoluta, but got the cane at the last minute. The thing's really intriguing since it claims to take people sitting in it to 60 mph from a stop in just under 4.5 seconds using a supercharged version of the 4.2-liter V8 engineered by Ferrari. 400 wild horses and 330 pound-feet of torque chugging through the rear wheels only, too. Cloverleaf Neutral Newbie September 11, 2003 Author Share September 11, 2003 yup, news of this car came out last year, but this is the first time it has been seen in its flesh. i think the source you have gotten the news from is not very accurate. it should be a 4.2 V8 engine sourced from Maserati, not Ferrari. and it is an NA engine, not supercharged. Super7 Turbocharged September 12, 2003 Share September 12, 2003 (edited) i am looking forward to a cross-over machine (SUV/wagon) from alfa with the handling of the typical alfa etc 156, power delivery of a turbo-charged car, space utilities of my current ride (ie no need to be a MPV, but more like a stylish wagon), chio chio looks for the exterior and interior of some real nice looking alfa past and present ....... hmmmmmm, how long do i have to wait??? (i m a garang kuni man and like to 'cheong' once in a while.... ) Lotus handling and performance :- too expensive for me judging from the price of the tiny Elise... Cloverleaf Neutral Newbie September 12, 2003 Author Share September 12, 2003 well, all the reports seem to point to 2008 for the first alfa SUV. i think the previous generation car like the 146 and 155 would be the 'cheapest' modern alfa one can get from now on. unless you are talking about a small alfa car in the future. all the news and spy reports seems to tell the stroy of alfa moving towards higher and higher end of the market. there also seem to be a lack of news on small/hatch alfa. engine sizes seems to be going bigger too. no more 1.4 or 1.6 of the older days. the truth is alfa has never been a cheap car to buy in the first place, it is just gonna be more expensive next time. looks like Fiat Spa strategy is to move Alfa into the BMW range, let Ferrari and Maserati take care of the high end cars, while Fiat will fight in the 'people's' car section. Cloverleaf Neutral Newbie September 12, 2003 Author Share September 12, 2003 well, as far as i know the 156 GTAM will be a 4WD, 3.5 litre 300bhp. that should be the first 4WD machine in the current alfa. not sure if you know this is not the first time alfa has 4wd cars, the last one was the 155Q4, which was the based model for the all conquering Alfa 155 DTM race cars.
