Jetcool 1st Gear September 12, 2003 Share September 12, 2003 You can read the comments at the Toyota Wish Club under Dephi Forums : http://forums.delphiforums.com/toyotawish/start So far, the Wish owners seem quite happy with their "Wishes come true" and report quite good mileage (12 to 13 km/litre) and good ride comfort. Prices have also dropped a fair bit. I read somewhere (sorry can't remember where) that compared with its closest competitor, the Honda Stream 1.7, the Wish scored higher in all depts except in handling. The Wish is certainly more spacious than the Stream esp in the third row. BTW, the TWC forumers also said the aircon is cold enough for those in the third row (there is no aircon vent in 2nd and 3rd row). If you buy it from a more reputed PI like Ricardo (they specialise in Toyota cars) the support should be quite OK since they have their own workshop and do keep stock of some spares. I believe they even provide a 3 year warranty now plus some free servicing. But of course they would not keep 100% of the spares so in the event of a major bust up, one may still have to wait for spares to be indented. Hope this helps. Cloverleaf Neutral Newbie September 13, 2003 Share September 13, 2003 like what the fellow forumer said, if buying PI car, only buy from reputable ones with their own in house workshop, like ricardo. you probably can buy it cheaper from some other PI, but something wrong and they will disappear. TiMeMaX Neutral Newbie September 14, 2003 Share September 14, 2003 I am trying to decide between the Stream and Wish . I have just tested the vehicle and could not see/feel the difference . Can you provide more information on the "handling" of a Wish .
Streamer7 Neutral Newbie September 14, 2003 Share September 14, 2003 In my opinion Stream is still a better choice. Many Streamer on the road. You can't go wrong. This is the right model where you can depart your hard earn money. Trust me. VTEC rules.
Vtim 3rd Gear September 14, 2003 Share September 14, 2003 Hi Streamer7, Welcome to MCF, looks like we have another Stream member here hope you enjoy your stay here & do join us for our weekly Friday Meetup. Yes, VTEC is good power but ultimately it'll still boils down to individual preference, I was told that the WISH has a more spacious 3rd roll than the Stream So, I guess it'll be this, if want to have power & more 'car' like handling - Stream, more spacious 3rd roll - Wish
Vtim 3rd Gear September 14, 2003 Share September 14, 2003 Hi Timemax, Welcome to MCF, do join us for our weekly Friday meetup at Bishan. I am trying to decide between the Stream and Wish . I have just tested the vehicle and could not see/feel the difference . Can you provide more information on the "handling" of a Wish . So have you push the test car for both of the model, try if possible to do some sprint from the traffic lights & also if possible choose your testing route so that it includes some wide & narrow corners to compare the 2 car's handling & make your judgement there

Jetcool 1st Gear September 15, 2003 Share September 15, 2003 [reply]I am trying to decide between the Stream and Wish . I have just tested the vehicle and could not see/feel the difference Can you provide more information on the "handling" of a Wish Apologies for the late reply, the info I read was found on MCF in this thread : http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...5;guest=1037730 One of the forumers reported the following : "There was a recent review in Motoring magazine on the Stream 1.7 against Wish 1.8. I think overall, the Wish came out tops in that review. I recall the key points being: - Wish has a 'proper' rear bench to seat 7, but the Stream's rear bench is only 'good for midgets' ..... so appraised the reviewer. - Wish's engine is DOHC 16v, while Stream is SOHC 8v - Wish's VVTi engine develops higher torque at lower rpm than the Honda, so more pulling power for the Toyota especially when loaded up with max passengers. - Wish has a longer wheel base than the Stream. - Wish has a better, more-pliant ride, while the Stream's ride is harder. - Wish has lower noise intrusion, versus Stream's higher road/tyre and engine noise. - The Stream is slightly heavier (kerb weight) than the Wish, so 0-100 acceleration suffers a little bit. However, - The Stream has a lower number of turns lock-to-lock (2+) vs Wish (3+) ..... means better maneuverability. I have inspected and test-driven both MPVs recently. My vote is for the Toyota Wish. Its overall quality is also better (IMO)."
Andrewkb Neutral Newbie September 15, 2003 Share September 15, 2003 Honda parts widely available in Malaysia but not for Stream rite ? More like for Civic ...
TiMeMaX Neutral Newbie September 15, 2003 Share September 15, 2003 Many thanks for your feedback. It was most informative. Can you further elaborate on the description "number of turns lock-to-lock (2+) vs Wish (3+)" and its relative with maneuverability? According to a PI, the original rear windows and rear side glass panel are tinted and they fail LTA standard. As such, PIs change these three glass locally and there had been feedback that it leaks when it rains. So far, has any Wish owners encountered this problem? BoneStock 5th Gear September 15, 2003 Share September 15, 2003 Yes, VTEC is good power but ultimately it'll still boils down to individual preference, I was told that the WISH has a more spacious 3rd roll than the Stream Yup, went to see the Wish with a friend recently. This car is definitely more spacious than Stream. Also come with high quality dark fabric upholtery...quite nice indeed. but me not saying that Stream is not a good car, different car suits different people with different needs. Vtim 3rd Gear September 15, 2003 Share September 15, 2003 but me not saying that Stream is not a good car, different car suits different people with different needs. you got it right there so, you driving a City Vtec
Andrewkb Neutral Newbie September 15, 2003 Share September 15, 2003 Most JDM cars have rear 3 windows tinted. .. I suspect Honda Stream (KM) one also .. Anyway, 2.2 turn means it takes less effort to make full left/right turn .... thus car response more agile. Imagine this ... from left most turn to right most turn of the steering wheel, it's only 2.2 turn, vs 3 full turn for normal cars. BTW, think AR156 is 2.2 too ... ↡ Advertisement
