Hi all,

I have just upgraded my ICE at a cost of $1000.The hardware are

1) Mercury 4 AMP

2) Revac 6 inch for front and 5 inch for back component speakers with tweeters.

3) Sony 222W 2 Channel AMP ( for woofer)

4) Dynaquest woofer ( the cylinder type)

My HU is a Blaupunkt Bologna 50.

After installation, there is a consistent noise coming from all four of my new speakers. It is loud, sharp and irritating. The mechanic says that this is common among all Blaupunkt HU after the installation of AMPs.

Is this true ? What can I do to salvage the problem.

Thanks.

Bossman,

Actually $1K is dirt cheap for all the stuff U got. But my motto not just as a retailer but also as a consumer mys elf is, "Cheap is seldom good and good is seldom thyat cheap."

Ur amp and speakers etc never heard of B4. More than likely China made. The sub is very cheap and nasty brand. More than likely all Ur stuff from China. Cables almost certainly will be sub standard. And tuning in will be non-existent. Chances are the amp also shove under the seat to save cabling and cut down labour time by half.

Hope U don't mind my bluntness, but it's the best way to get the facts across. [knife]

Salvage?

Sometimes using even cheapo-cheapo stuff W/ good and clever install techniques can achieve decent results. U'r welcome to bring Ur car down 4 me to look see. Interference and sound quality can be adressed and it 's free. Call and come down anytime. Quotes given will be based on what and how long it will take to rectify. Do or not U can consider and make up Ur own mind.

To all Bros ... whether it's a $10K system or a $1.5K system, my charges for a basic full install like Bossman's is approx $400 for more than a day's labour + $100 for tuning and $250 for all cables, fuses and wiring. GRAND TOTAL $750.

How do I come to this kinda quote? ...Cuz I quote based on what is just comfortable and worthwhile for us to put full attention on the install to ensure that the Sound Quality is guaranteed Real Car Audio. Super X or dirt cheap or BYO hardware the same labour time and effort, same expertise therefore same quotation 4 all.

AutoS

BTW Bossman if U go according to my charges, it means Ur amp, speakers, sub and sub box only have $250 left to play W/. If what I say is correct that my quotation is just comfortable then something, somewhere or everywhere possible got to short cut time and hardware otherwise how installer gonna make it?

Wah....$750 just for basic installation....wah piang..so ex......

anyway, i am a newbie in I.C.E and never an audiophile so i guess $1k is the max I can pay for a car sound system. It is not as if you gonna sleep, eat or hear music in the car all day long right ? In S'pore roads, the max number of songs is around 15 songs before you reach you destination, so I do not really see the point of installing a $10k system in the car. [laugh]

Well....maybe when I am free I will contact you so you can help to tune the system to its very "best".

Now , I prefer to focus on car performance products.

Thanks. [angelic]

Well. Mr Auto S, lets try not to assume to much.I am not an expert in car audio but I do do some homework before I purchase anything. [scholar]

I do not know about the sub but the amp and speakers are of recognisable quality. They are definitely not made in China even is they are, they are not designed in China.Nike shoes are not made in USA anyway. With $1k , I do not expect Nakamichi system in my car too. [idea]

I bought all my stuff at Autobacs. They do not take one day to install nor they install my amp under my car seat. All the works are in the boot and it is based on my needs too. After installation, they take their time to tune which is subjected to my preference. In all, I believe they did a good job. [thumbsup]

I dunno about the bros here but $750 is too much for basic installation.A scholar also do not bring in $750 for three hours job in this current economic climate.

Lets face it bro.If I or anyone with such skills can bring in $750 for three hours job on a project he or she does almost daily without the need to improvise to stay relevant,I will quit my current job now.

I am sorry for being too direct. As a happy customer I believe it is just for me appreciate the service to me by Autobacs. They are not the best but as long they make the customer happy, they have a slice of the market share, even though they sell "dirt cheap" stuff.

Bossman,

To each his own. Ur preferences as far as car audio vs performance parts are concerned are Urs and U have every right to it. If U think that Autobacs is goood and can supply U good or even decent stuff at that price that is also Ur perogative.

My job is to strive to give pple the best car audio value for money. For those who want it. Won't go into all the detail explaination to justify my quotation. Logically I wouldn't post my install quotes here in this public forum so big-big if it wasn't a value for money quotation.

Several of the kakis here are my customers and many more in the ICE Forum and out of these many have done their systems elswhere B4 so they are qualified to make comparisons. They will know what I am talking abt when I say that a pair of speakers in the front costing $200+ properly installed will sound a whole lot better than amp, speaker and sub set up for $1K. And spending $2K+ on a system if it can give U real Audio sounds is not X when considering that many many, spend a lot more and get a lot less. And it all has to do with that 1 day + install labour, cables and tuning which I charge $750 + for.

If U disagree then nothing to say [lipsrsealed] . But for those who see the logic then that $1K is not a saving but a waste. Why spend even ten bucks on lousy sound let alone $1K?

BTW the Autobacs $1K full system job? Not suaning U, just direct fact, but I doubt any amount of tooning gonna help much. [shakehead]

Ur directness not a problem. Me also very direct. Since we both speak the same hope we can both take the same too. [thumbsup]
