E36UDM Neutral Newbie October 16, 2003 Share October 16, 2003 (edited) Iridium spark plugs are performance plugs and claims to last up to 120,000 miles Thus its much more expensive than normal plugs Attached a webside on Iridium plugs FAQs...... http://www.densoiridium.com/faq.php If you decide to go for it make sure you reset to the correct gap when you install and during servicings Edited October 16, 2003 by E36UDM
Vtim 3rd Gear October 16, 2003 Share October 16, 2003 Iridium Spark plug, especially Denso's Iridium have the center electrode tip with only 0.4mm diameter, the smallest in the market. So being smaller in diameter, as compare to normal copper tips of 2.5mm, it requires less voltage to spark. As the car's voltage are constand, the 0.4mm will gives a brighter spark (as according to Denso's website) It's very simple to install as instructions are also written in the packing However, you'll have to change it when the engine has cool down a bit The plugs will not void warranty as car manufacturer do not make their own plugs, most are OEM from NGK, DENSO, CHAMPION, etc... However, you need to check the gap size first to see if it's compatible What car are you driving

Vtim 3rd Gear October 17, 2003 Share October 17, 2003 If you are intested in Denso Iridium, let me know. Your ES5 should be using IK16 (1.1mm gap)
Remygenn Neutral Newbie October 17, 2003 Share October 17, 2003 I just sent my car to fix the grounding cables - the mechanic told me that my car is under power - maybe is the engine oil or the spark plug ? Can trust the mechanic or not or he is making extra money to 'goreng' me ? I know nuts of cars technically though.
Vtim 3rd Gear October 17, 2003 Share October 17, 2003 Hi Remygenn, What car are you driving & how old and do you know the mech well or not In this economy situation, everyone out there are making less $$$, so don't be surprise that they will try to push more products for your car Like one of my friend who was 'shocked' that I traded-in my 23mths car for a new car. First thing he say 'you siao ah, so fast change car, kanna 4 D or toto is it!' so I explain to him that I'm doing this so that I can stretch my loans longer (10yrs loan instead of 7yrs) & the monthly installment is lesser by $200. When I go to his shop to trade in my stock alloy rims & tyres, he told me off & say 'Ah yah! save the money lar! use the tyre till botak first then decided latter lar!' Now this is what I call how good is your relationship you have with your mech, in my case, a tyre & hi-fi owner who have become a friend
