Probably he see my 4 banger no up, typical american opinion of Japanese small cc car. The attitude which I always encounter while in US dragstrip. They will laff at my friends 4 banger turbo eclipse, but end up their V10 cant even match to a Trust/Greddy 4 banger. But got to say, their car can be really fast on straights, with full mods. Jgoh Neutral Newbie November 23, 2003 Share November 23, 2003 (edited) The 'purple' convertible besides the Corvette in the pictures is a Chevrolet Corvair. Below are scans taken from the 1966 catalogue. The Corvair was unique (for mainstream American cars) in that the engine was placed in the rear. Because it was 'new' technology at that time, there were some imbalance problems which when put in inexperienced hands, met some accidents (a little like the A-Class which failed the elk-test). Anyway, the 1966-69 models had that fixed, but Ralph Nader's book "Unsafe At Any Speed" basically sounded the death-knell for the Corvair. The nation-wide publicity surrounding this car helped to direct attention to the launch of the 1966 Mustang and from there, the pony-cars to the muscle-cars... Actually, it is much loved amongst car aficionados and it has quite a cult following. And from the scans, it is evident that this car had many ideas way ahead of its time. Some, even, are used today in MPVs, etc... Would dearly love to own one in Singapore, complete with simulated wire wheels and white wall tires... dreaming on...
