Performance tyre not always noisy

Just like to share my experience with all ...

I've recently took over a set of 215/45R17 ContiSportsContact2 from Modeldriver and I must say, the tyre is really quiet !

The CSC2 is supposedly classified as Type A+ and stock with many performance car,e.g. Porsche.

Prior to this, I was using the "famous" AspecdB at 195/65R15.

So, naturally, I am prepared for a huge degration in terms of tyre noise.

P.S: The car gets quite a bit of tyre noise.

With 15,000km used before I took over, the tyre can be considered worn to a certain extend. Even with the AspecdB, with this mileage, it is starting to get noisy.

However, the CSC2 is extremely quiet for it's width and profile, only when going over road imperfection, does the thud sounds louder than AspecdB.

To anyone who want to have a good compromise between tyre noise vs performance, this is highly recommended.

P.S: According to Conti website, the tyre is made like a cat's paw.

When on the move, the contact is lesser, but when braking, the tyre "spread" out thus covering more area.

[laugh][laugh] CSC2s are really one of the best balance being dry and wet handling, PLUS ride comfort and noise... usually something which many deem as impossible compromises to balance.

Remember though - EACH CSC2 can cost almost $500, unless bought as a package with discount from Stamford ! [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

Another good compromis between price, performance and noise is ST115. It's labelled as Acoustic Performance Tyres. I drove it at 140kph along NS highway one night when it was raining heavily with NO aquaplaning.

CSC2 is too expensive for me leh.... [:/]
