Extractor - Do they really work

Think at the end of the day.... If we want more power, faster pick up..... rather than going thru all the "illegal" mods..... think saving all those $$ and just get a bigger cc car would do the trick.

On the other hand, the perspective that we can look at is that we are all contented with what we have got..... and what we want is to bring out the best... out of what we have. Think it's more like the feeling of ...."my car can outrun all the rest out there" kind of mentality. [;)]

Increasing the internal dia of your pipe may affect your low end and slow driveability. But it will give you good pull through the rpm range.

Bear in mind, changing the pipe and extractor also need a tried and tested pipe design. There is such thing as tuning the pipe to suit your car engine for max advantage. It does not mean that the exhaust fit you car mean it is correct.

The particular extractor/pipe may be design for your car engine with a race cams and works wanders, it does not mean your engine will have the same response. Wrongly match may be worse than your standard configuration.

To increase torque, air filter is clean, plugs in good condition, engine oil not dirty and engine tune correctly. Use higher grade petrol and if you want add octane booster and you should get better torque.

All these 4-2-1 or 4-1, my concern is if we change the exhaust extrator set up, will we be able to pass the ROV inspection? If not, how can we overcome it?

If you just changed the header (extractor) and not disturbed the rest of the exhaust system, good change can pass. If you change the whole system, chances are you will fail.

Mine pass the last time becos I changed only the header, and it blend nicely with the rest and not striking when looking at the engine bay area.

Tks Sky.

Sorry to trouble you again. But what do you mean by the header? Is the box at the tail of the exhaust? Or is it found in the engine right after the spark plugs and pistons?

Pardon my blurness.

Rgds,

Headers as the names suggest is at the beginining of the exhaust , the four pipes or six for six cylinders, that you see in the engine compartment. Most standard cars comes with cast iron mould, and they are joint to a collectors and to the cat converter and all the way to the silencer box and out at the rear.

Hope its clear enough.
