Tea3 Neutral Newbie February 9, 2004 Share February 9, 2004 What does EPC on the dashboard mean? Yesterday, as I was driving, that word lit up on my dashboard. This morning, it was still lighted as I started the engine. It happened last month once but after letting the car rest for a day, it went off. ↡ Advertisement

Armored_Saint Neutral Newbie February 9, 2004 Share February 9, 2004 (edited) I believe it's the Electronic Power Control or Electronic Pressure Control signal. Highly possible there's something malfunctioning somewhere, but I could be wrong. Best to have it diagnosed by the agent. Virus 2nd Gear February 9, 2004 Share February 9, 2004 What does EPC on the dashboard mean? Yesterday, as I was driving, that word lit up on my dashboard. This morning, it was still lighted as I started the engine. It happened last month once but after letting the car rest for a day, it went off. This is some encounter on the EPC problem extracted from another SKODA website : "Some of you know I hate my Auto fabia sedan because it's so slow, but something happened the other day. The warning lights were showing, EPC and the Engine block illumination, so Autopoint Volkswagen in Luton, v.good checked only to find nothing. The computer was reset and that would have been end of story, but they came on again a few days later, this time the computer diagnosed a faulty air injection sensor or something, so they cleaned it, All that day the car moved like a 911 Porche, it was rediculously fast, what the hell did they do to it! I kept doing wheelspins and the tranny kept changing in the high 4-5's, I swear it was going sooo much faster than before, I did 115 on the dual carrigeway, funny because the top speed is 103, admittedly on a slight decline, but still very fast. Allmost crashed after understeering round a roundabout. So the lights re-appered and the sensor was replaced. She raced a little at idle for a few days but has now gone back to her old slow and sluggish self, what the hell happened. p.s should my air injection sensor fail allready at just 11,000 miles." BTW, if it appears again, better send for some checkup.
Tea3 Neutral Newbie February 9, 2004 Author Share February 9, 2004 Yes, i checked the manual. It just states that if EPC is lighted up, please send to authorized agent (something like that). Doesn't explain what it implies.
Tea3 Neutral Newbie February 9, 2004 Author Share February 9, 2004 Thanks for the extract. Will see if it comes up again this evening. If yes, then I will send it immediately for a check up. Faulty air injection sensor...sheesh...

Caraze Neutral Newbie February 9, 2004 Share February 9, 2004 (edited) EPC = Electronic Power Control Can be anything from MAF sensors to the throttle. But, most commonly is the brake switch at the pedal which enable the gear to be shifted (when brake is depressed is gear hard to engage ?) EPC only for fly by wire cars not fly by cable. Hope this helps. Edited February 9, 2004 by Caraze
Meow Neutral Newbie February 9, 2004 Share February 9, 2004 Meow............ Meow also driving a Faby. I have encountered that before on and off(EPC) . But not sure what is the fault. Maybe u can check whether your brake lite working or not. Have the same thing happened before and later found that brake lite not working and changed a brake lite switch in CA. Then OK. Tea3 Neutral Newbie February 10, 2004 Author Share February 10, 2004 Brought the car to Servo after work yesterday. Dennis did some diagnostic test & found that brake lights were not working. Brake light switch KO already. Changed it within 1/2 hour & costs me S$60 for part & services. Dennis kindly checked my battery & alternator after I told him I wanted to make sure no bird flu in my car, & it showed 10.7V. He said, "It's healthy. No bird flu."
