Madarmour Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 What's your comment on the SO3, compared to similar performance tyres you've tried? I haven't tried SO3 yet but ppl told me it's more 'cultured' than SO2.
Yongwd 1st Gear September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 general feel, grip is comparable to s02, noise level is lower then s02 but higher then es100. Perhaps my car is under powered to test on s03, you might want to give try? No regrets buying s03. Let alone st115 rubber band tyre and falken s326 cant make it either
Zen Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 can I ask how nosier is es-100 compared to aspecdb? noise and comfort is my top priority. but if the sacrifice in noise is not signifcant (e.g. less than 5%) then I will really consider es-100 seriously... thanks
Madarmour Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 Have tried CSC, Toyo R1R and presently Kumho 712. Best perf so far regardless of price is R1R. Most comfy is the CSC and best bang for the buck is 712. Don't think I'll ever buy the st115 or s326. Too bad tyre prices increases exponentionally with every 1" increment. The SO3 will lighten my wallet abt $200 each.
Yongwd 1st Gear September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 go for es100 anytime. I use dB before, strictly comfort/silent tyre, tyre pressure sensitive - grip differs drastically with +/- 10-20kpa
Yongwd 1st Gear September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 i wonder wat tyre size r u using for ur car? I using the humble 15 inch avail in the market. S03 each cost $120 for 195/50R15, might be cheaper elsewhere I dunno ...
Madarmour Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 I'm just 1 size bigger than yours - 16" (205/55). That's why I said tyre prices increases exponentially! Don't even dare to venture into 17" territory!
Zen Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 I wonder does es100 fare well in the noise and comfort level? I know it can't be as quiet and comfy as aspecdb, but I am hoping that it's close to it. IF ES100 is quiet, how does it fare compared to AVS Sport, CSC2, S03? Yongwd 1st Gear September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 get aspec dB then, comfortable and silent. wat car u drivin?
Eric Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 (edited) ES100 is not quiet. It's not so bad on smooth roads, but on rougher roads, must turn up the stereo a lot ES100 supposed to be quiet only compared against the more "sporty" tires. Quite a lot noisier than aspect db or stock (on most roads). Just another note, the tire guy told me that ES100 must take care to remember to rotate every 10,000km. So cannot be lazy hor. Zen Neutral Newbie September 13, 2002 Share September 13, 2002 looks like I am getting aspecdb then. I drive a bora. Eric, how much quieter do you feel aspecdb is over es100? I know this is a very subjective matter, I just want to get some perspective.
Phalanx Neutral Newbie September 14, 2002 Author Share September 14, 2002 Aspecdb's wet weather performance leaves much to be desired. ES100 I know, doesn't last long because of soft compound. But purely for reduction in noise, AspecDb.

Lightspeed Clutched September 15, 2002 Share September 15, 2002 Stay away from ES100!!!
Yongwd 1st Gear September 16, 2002 Share September 16, 2002 yupz, I know s03 not = g3, they are 2 different models.
Mondeo Neutral Newbie September 16, 2002 Share September 16, 2002 There's a market testing for the G3 and claimed silence and good grips and also tried the 'Burn run' also good. (but I saw they only tested total 1000km mileage, so dun know after the 1000km.) ↡ Advertisement
