Magfocus 5th Gear September 15, 2002 Share September 15, 2002 Well if the ordinary Octy 1.8T costs $110++, i think the RS would be priced above the WRX... Difficult choice if you ask me..
Super7 Turbocharged September 15, 2002 Author Share September 15, 2002 (edited) does the Octy 1.8T perform as well (or rather as ordinarily) as the Passat 1.8T which isn't that impressive either? (test driven the pussy -- opps, Passy, when it was first launched) cheers Edited September 15, 2002 by Ysfoo
Rx7_lover Neutral Newbie September 15, 2002 Share September 15, 2002 never driven a passat, but I will say that most european cars do not really get enough power if the engine size aren't big enough. It is more the luxury statues that you pay for when getting a german car imo. Japanese cars are better tuned and their enginnering is really magnificant. That is why I am very pro japanese cars. But one thing I will say is that european cars usually have a smoother ride than most japanese cars. Plus the interior usually looks more refined. It is a class thing. Super7 Turbocharged September 15, 2002 Author Share September 15, 2002 agreed: jap gives better $ per hp, while euro gives better $ per class/comfort?? cheers
Rx7_lover Neutral Newbie September 15, 2002 Share September 15, 2002 class = statues and yes comfort, plus most european car have better air con and audio system overall.
Renegade Neutral Newbie September 15, 2002 Share September 15, 2002 (edited) Well if the ordinary Octy 1.8T costs $110++, i think the RS would be priced above the WRX... Close to $120k would be more accurate - I have a feeling the RS would be going for around $130k upwards, which would mean there won't be many of them on the roads anytime soon, if at all..... Super7 Turbocharged September 16, 2002 Author Share September 16, 2002 maybe thru PI the price will be lower, u rekon PI will be interested to bring it in?
Magfocus 5th Gear September 16, 2002 Share September 16, 2002 Thats what i thought. Especially since even the Forester Turbo i tested costs "only" $113k
Renegade Neutral Newbie September 16, 2002 Share September 16, 2002 No idea, man - wonder if PI's even know what Skoda's and Seat's really are. Someone I know once suggested doing the PI thing for the Toledo 20VT and even went so far as to ask around - all he got was a 'Huh ?....er....we don't do Seats....' type of answer.... Rx7_lover Neutral Newbie September 16, 2002 Share September 16, 2002 I won't be surprised, the bulk of PIs deal solely with Japanese cars.
Super7 Turbocharged September 16, 2002 Author Share September 16, 2002 (edited) >>>>.....?....er....we don't do Seats....' type of answer.... did they say: 'er... seat?.... we dun sell seat, but steering wheels, floor mats got lah...."? Magfocus 5th Gear September 16, 2002 Share September 16, 2002 I tried asking a second hand car dealer how much my car was worth, and when i told him " Focus", he said " on what?"
Super7 Turbocharged September 16, 2002 Author Share September 16, 2002 LOL..... but you muz know these PIs are a damn focused lots: focused on jap cars, and on how to lure customers into signing the dotted lines.... after deposit is paid and things are signed, they will suddenly loose their focus on you completely and re-focus on the next victims......... of course there are still quite a few honourable PIs around, only a few black sheeps here and there... cheers
Magfocus 5th Gear September 16, 2002 Share September 16, 2002 Well, the demand in Sillypore are mainly focused on jap cars But then again, i believe some are ok

Ilmw 1st Gear September 16, 2002 Share September 16, 2002 when i was looking at the octavia early this year, i found the RS to be only SGD 5,000 more than the 1.8T in Skoda UK website. (why UK you ask, bec PI (or whatever) who want to PI it, will do it from UK (where they speak english)). multiple $5K by ARF factor will at most be $10K or so. anything more than that is the uplift by the dealer. ↡ Advertisement
