Check this out. This may be labelled a concept car when it was unveiled recently at a Beijing car show, but expect certain styling cues to appear in the new Focus saloon due out in 2005. Overall, I think it has a more solid look, it has a lower and more streamlined roof line than the current sedan especially in the rear. The bonnet crease is very similar to the new S40, the hip/shoulder and bootline is also lower than the current and who can miss those gorgeous LED clusters in the rear lamps. The door handles are no longer the grab handle and are flushed with the body panel, I think it is the push and pull type kinda like the Murcielago/Gallardo. I just wish that they will be more aggressive with the head lamp and front grille design. I also like the triangualr side indicator of the current design, hope they will retain them as well.

I can almost guarantee you the grille and door handles won't make it to production, but overall the shape looks very showroom-ready. Nip and tuck of the current design, which you could say is a good thing. But like many others have lamented, what happened to adventurous design??? [blush]

thot i read somewhere that FoMoCo's grand plan is to differentiate and position it's stable of cars to do battle in the respective markets i.e Mainstream: Ford; Sporty: Mazda & Luxury: Volvo.

....not always an easy task .... too much and we end up with Bangle inspired mutilations like the "flame cut" on the new BMW 1's or Z4 or overbite bootlit on the 5's, 6's and 7's ...........too little and we may end up like the VW's Golf where you'll be hardpressed to distinguish each subsequent new design changes ....so much so that die-hards are not excited and interested anymore ......................let's hope the driving dynamics becomes even better .......

...actually you can see some influences from a previous concept car, the Visos which is supposed to be the successor to the Capri coupe ...albeit watered down ......the clean and flush look of the front wings and side panels ......the LED lamp clusters ....the integrated exhausts ........in fact the slim and slightly understated front grille and lamps on the Visos are absolutely outstanding
