Genie47 1st Gear August 21, 2004 Share August 21, 2004 Sad to say, not driving Starlet anymore but I have a lot of fun with the Starlet. Cheap to start with, fun to drive. The experience with the Starlet actually shows that the engine is not the end all and be all for a car. The suspension and brake improvements actually makes a car more formidable. As someone has said in his .sig in this forum: Straights are for fast cars, bends are for fast drivers. The engine of most cars are tuned for streetability. Powerful engined cars are addictive but makes driving them painful in street conditions not forgetting the hurt in the pocket. Seen a Starlet with tuned suspension and tires exit an E'way on a ramp? It frightens many other drivers. All this with a humble dirty carburetted 1.3L engine. My tires are now 195/50/15 on my Aveo and this made the turns so much more bearable. Exit on the ramp means exit some expressway slip going up or down. The suspension makes it all possible a powerful engine is not really necessary. Emperor Clutched September 1, 2004 Share September 1, 2004 Yeah.....I didnt really like the EP70.....then I saw the EP80....its shape and dimension is really nice at every angle.....of course my first love will always be the AE86 Levin......but I couldnt get the finance for that car when its COE ended so had to scrap it....the next toyota hatchback would be the starlet......next best thing.....its engine is also lasting if you look after it.....I like small fast cars....and I love Toyota's.
