Psfong Clutched August 2, 2004 Share August 2, 2004 (edited) funny, the newer ones (also named as Verso) is only manufactured in Toyota Turkey. Can import in meh? To differentiate, the older models have sloping rear doors (notice my Avatar) while the new ones has straight ones. btw, look at this article for thsi new range. Impressive! Silverarrow Neutral Newbie August 2, 2004 Share August 2, 2004 this one look like picnic/ipsum leh... the other pic looks more like a rounded version of Ist. Yeah, the big white one was an Ipsum. Said so on the plate. Just wanted to check, coz I was somehow hoping that the other one, the Euro Spacio/Verso, might somehow find its way to our roads. In any case, I think Psfong may have posted the picture of the actual Spacio (JDM) that made it here.
Linus Clutched August 2, 2004 Share August 2, 2004 eh, nice leh. the headlights similar to the stream ones. dunno wats the price. looks like same class as premacy or is it a 5 seater.
Silverarrow Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 hi bro, No.. it's not so big... it's more like a mini Picnic don't think I see wrongly becos' my wife oso say this car very nice & unique... with the word "Spacio" behind !! I have to say the Spacio looks pretty nice. But as an MPV, it has its shortcomings. The car's seats are not really flexible: the middle row is just your normal 60:40 split-folder that tumbles forward and doesn't fold flat. There must be a reason why Toyota sells more Wish and Picnic models than it does the Spacio. If you're after a small MPV, better inquire if the much superior Toyota Verso will make it here. It's already selling in South Africa, so it's not limited to just the European market alone. That car boasts amazing "Easy Flat-7" seats that will individually fold flat in one motion. Unlike the JDM Spacio, the Verso received rave reviews.
Psfong Clutched August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 hey, what u say really hits the point. After folding, the bare floor that's reveal is not flat like the Wish/Picnic. Very ugly. But then, if cosmetic not an issue, then space revealed is enormous. I managed to fit a standing bike in (non-foldable and w/o removing any wheels) and still able to sit 4 ppl. And also, there's another time, fit in a 6-seat dinner table + 4 chairs. Wonders of having a MPV!

The JDM Spacio's a 5+2 seater, since the 3rd row is an even tighter squeeze than the Wish or Stream given the car's small dimensions.

With such versatility, I wonder if you're willing to switch back to a normal sedan after enjoying the benefits of having an MPV. By the way, when was the JDM Spacio launched? It may not be fair to compare it to the newer Euro Verso.
Psfong Clutched August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 No way I will be going for a sedan anymore. the feeling is different. Mine is the 2002 edition. Till now, the JDM model more or less remains the same. Verso is launched this year, i think.
Silverarrow Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 I guess the benefits of having a wide opening hatch is one of the reason why Europeans prefer hatchbacks over sedans: to have the sportiness to go along with the versatility of loading big items that will not fit into a normal boot. An MPV just takes the versatility aspect further. By the way, how much do you think a Spacio will cost nowadays? Somewhere between the Wish and the Sienta? Psfong Clutched August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 I guess it shld be around the same range as Sienta. ↡ Advertisement
