Tanzy Clutched August 2, 2004 Author Share August 2, 2004 Is it? Autoglym or Zymol isn't that much cheaper. I bought it in UK.
Seraphim Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 (edited) Swissol is a premium product. More expensive than ZYMOL. But heard feed back from frens who are using it that it's very good (if your pockets can afford). Edited August 3, 2004 by Seraphim
Steelblue Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 Most people have the mentality that something expensive = must be good. I'm not doubting that it's good but just that is it that good? It would be interesting to put say S100 along side it for comparison
Seraphim Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 I agree.. and i m using Soft99 Authentic Wax.
Tien Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 my guess is all wax/polish are about the same, with some slight difference in ingredients. what's value? it is something one so call "sees" or perceives... that's why those mktg guys are paid so much, so that they can crack their head and work out something to increase a product's value in the mind of the consumers. Steelblue Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 Have you tried the soft 99 hard paste for metallic paint, wow pretty impressive , i like it a lot
Jagash Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 Zymol is not necessary cheaper than Swissol. Zymol has a specially poured wax that runs into hundreds of dollars.
Jagash Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 I am on S100 and I am waiting to meet Jesse_James again to compare it with Swissol. I know James is quite particular about his car so if he says Swissol is good, I think it must be really good. Just curious how good it is that's all! Seraphim Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 Hmmm... haven't tried that out. But I am more interested in carnuaba wax and this is what i am using.. http://www.authentic-mania.com/products/im...pic_premium.jpg And Soft99 has recently came out with aother higher grade of carnuaba wax http://www.authentic-mania.com/products/im...c_excellent.jpg
Tanzy Clutched August 3, 2004 Author Share August 3, 2004 Swissol comes highly recommended on another specialist car forum I visit. They had a group buy and a lot of people use it too before that. The shine is amazing plus the users said that Swissol is really good at protecting the car from bird poop and dead bugs.
Steelblue Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 I quote this from myall00 from another forum "The real story behind Swissol and Zymol is this (it's confirmed). Swissol started first in the 1930s in Europe. Their wax formulations can only be produced by hand and not by mass-commercialisation. Very conservative and laidback company. Then, one of the Swissol relatives migrated to the US and...(ahem) "brought/borrowed" along the recipe there where she had big plans for it (mktg support, PR....etc). However, to keep up with demand, she had to mass-produce it and finally chose Turtle Wax company to contract-manufacture the waxes. Her line of products was called ZYMOL!!!!!!! and it was marketed very professionally and aggresively in the States. Thta's why Zymol's product range closely mimics that of Swissol. However, as many Zymol dealers already know or pretend not to know, there are many cases of quality problems with Zymol waxes. The waxes in their transparent tubs often exhibit whitish patches and these are considered problematic products. Over the years, Zymol has dropped out of the rat race and is no longer as popular as it was back then. Therefore, Zymol can be perceived as an imitation of the original product - SWISSOL. When you look at Swissol, forget about Zymol." unquote
Seraphim Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 for the price u pay for swissol, i bet it has to be very gd. As steelblue has said, it voiced down to how much marketing funds were used to promote the product and how we perceived the product. It's a personal choice end of the day. just my 2 cents. Jagash Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 Don't know about Swissol but in many US forums, the big thing is Pinnacle Souveran Car Wax. It is 5 time more expensive than S100 though but the shine according to the forumers is the best.
Ghostrider 3rd Gear August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 First of all, Swissol is not intended to be a mass market product like Autogylm, Kit, Turtlewax etc. Its a niche market product. In Singapore, I don't recall seeing much advertisment or marketing on these product. I got wind of this product thru forums as well. Well all I can say is...Swissol kicks arse. The shine is really deep and sort of jumps at you. You just cannot compare the shine vs say Autogylm. However, I agree that the price is kinda steep...but again...this is a niche product...they are not volume sellers. How many people actually bother about their cars ? Quite a percentage I guess. From this percentage, how many are really picky on their cars ? Some people just wash their car is good enough for them. Some use off the shelves waxes and do it once quaterly...good enough. Some monthly. Some will go to great distance to ensure that their ride receive the best treatment...do not mine paying a premium. This is the target group of customers that Swissol has. It does not mean that you have to drive a Ferrari...some people I know driving a 1.0 car can blow this kinda money too. Different folks different strokes. But be fair to Swissol...its indeed a superior product. Not thru marketing but rather thru the stuffs that is in the bottle.
Steelblue Neutral Newbie August 3, 2004 Share August 3, 2004 I have the Souveran wax amongst others, my car is steel blue and I prefer Trade Secret on it , after the second coating of TS, I can see the darkening effect and my car looks very wet, oh smell really good as well, much better than Souveran. So I would suggest getting TS instead, it's half the price of Souveran :) ↡ Advertisement
