Omegaz22xe Neutral Newbie October 6, 2004 Share October 6, 2004 Long-lasting means body & engine block will not fall apart easily even kana langar. Reliability issues mainly caused by electronics problems-eg erratic sensing by sensors. Some models are known to have idling problem due to throttle valve design, etc. ↡ Advertisement
Omegaz22xe Neutral Newbie October 6, 2004 Share October 6, 2004 Actually the reliability issues I faced are mainly due to electronics. So many faults could not be duplicated in the workshop. The last one I had- engine could not be started. Switch to spare key, everything back to normal.
Weetiong Neutral Newbie October 6, 2004 Share October 6, 2004 i'm so used 2 left side indicator stalk that i dun wan 2 go back 2 d 'normal' right side indicator stalk. :P P.S: One thing i hate most is having to use the left hand to flick the indicator stalk. Cannot drive with one hand!!!

Metrix2 Neutral Newbie October 6, 2004 Author Share October 6, 2004 I read about the heavy weight in some reviews too. Perhaps the 2.2 is not so suitalbe for Singapore driving.
Metrix2 Neutral Newbie October 6, 2004 Author Share October 6, 2004 The Passat 2.0 is rather low on features.. like not so worth it.
Metrix2 Neutral Newbie October 6, 2004 Author Share October 6, 2004 Maybe the techs here are not experienced enough, thus return to workshop often.
Husky Clutched October 6, 2004 Share October 6, 2004 (edited) My old Astra was rather reliable except for some aircon problems. Most parts are from GM and i think as the largest car manufacturer in the world, their parts are reasonably priced as they mass manufacture. I broke my tail lights once when i was reversing and i thought it would cost my a few hundred dollars to repair. But the OEM parts (same brand as the original) is only $98 Anyway, I am still a fan of Opel but I think the upcoming Opel Astra would be in the 85K to 95K price range, so have to be realistic and settle for something more humble. Hmmm.... Maybe when i have the $$$ in the future, i would get the Opel Astra CC *day dreams* Edited October 6, 2004 by Husky
Silver_blade Turbocharged October 6, 2004 Share October 6, 2004 The Passat 2.0 is rather low on features.. like not so worth it. Agree. It is also an out-going model.
Soya Supersonic October 7, 2004 Share October 7, 2004 but out-going models are usually loaded up wif goodies to sustain the buying interest. dunno how they plan to shift metal if they strip features instead. cannot be on price coz the 2.0L japs do a much better job wif their newer models. Bimmer Neutral Newbie October 7, 2004 Share October 7, 2004 Hi, I drive an Opel too. It's rather good, more stable. But fuel consumption not comparable to Jap cars cos they are heavier in general. And I appreciate the lil' features they have (like steering wheel audio controls and foldable back seats, even for my 1.4L model). In contrast, Jap car makers would have made a big hoo-hah to sell these features whenever their cars have these. Vectra is nice, good choice! Test drive already? Husky Clutched October 7, 2004 Share October 7, 2004 Yeah, esp foldable back seats in the Astra. Very useful when it is raining and your umbrella is in the boot or if you buy stuff from IKEA Actually, I was surprised that you don't get foldable seats in the Civic or Altis. Reliability may be a good virtue but so is practicality.
Bimmer Neutral Newbie October 7, 2004 Share October 7, 2004 Me too! Esp mine is hatch back, the seats are so useful. I don't mind doing away with fake wood trimming (I dun think they look nice anyway) and more cup holders for practical things!
Weetiong Neutral Newbie October 7, 2004 Share October 7, 2004 other than wear n tear items, i oni need 2 replace 1 h7 bulb in 3.5 yrs. :) My old Astra was rather reliable except for some aircon problems. Weetiong Neutral Newbie October 7, 2004 Share October 7, 2004 wat's yr fc? mine is: corsa 1.2: abt 12km/l astra 1.4m: abt 13.4-13.8 km/l :) ======================= Replying to : Bimmer Post: Hi, I drive an Opel too. Bimmer Neutral Newbie October 7, 2004 Share October 7, 2004 So u are Opel fan, got 2 Opels. mine's about 12km/l. corsa 1.4 When I changed tyres, I had a 5% improvement in fc,just as the tyre promised. But subsequently, the fc remained the same (as before I changed tyre). The same thing when I pump petrol. The first time they promised better mileage, I got about 13.5km/l. Subsequently, it justt went back to be the same. ↡ Advertisement
